How much does scope placement matter?

I have a home made phone mount i use on my Armada, but it brings the phone way too close to my face. Ive been making it work bt just holding the stock in one hand and trigger pull with the other hand, but thats no long term solution.

If I move my scope far up the top picanny of the armada - lets say all the way up just for example purposes - what effect, if any, does that have? I mean besides the onvious re-sighting in... Does it shift POI any more / less over range changes? Does it subject it to unwanted forces?

It won't change trajectories much. But you SHOULD consider:
  • how often you want scope cam footage
  • Whether you will lose/miss any shots due to reduced resolution or visibility
What I did when I was videoing my pesting was to just put the camera off-gun. Then, it doesn't shake when the gun fires, we don't hear big clunks of it being cocked and the image doesn't move at all. It's just a matter of accepting that if the animal runs off-screen, you can't follow him smoothly, as you would if the camera were mounted to the gun. (either through the scope or over it)
