I used to own a couple hawke scopes and one was a sidewinder. IMHO they are junk and not remotely close to being as clear as scopes starting in the range of the vortex viper pst gen 2 and up in price. On top of the bad clarity the Hawke scopes I have used all had horribly mushy turrets. If you want to see the difference get a friend who has a viper pst gen2 or better scope. Go outside and put out papers with different sized letters on them about 100 yds away or even 50 yards if you cant get out to 100 yds. Look at the letters with both scopes side by side and you will notice how much easier and clearer you can see small letters with the higher end scope than the Hawke. Its not as noticeable looking at trees and brush at distance as it is looking at small letters. I use this test when I want to really see how much clearer a scope is than another brand.
