"How many licks does it take?"

I will be shooting these through rifled barrels. How many shots do you think it would be before a noticable change in accuracy occurs?

And will dipping the heads in candle wax extend the life? Mat down the tail hair? Clog up the barrel? Thoughts? Sorry for the dumb questions, I am a noob to air guns.

Thanks.

As above. Make sure the gun you choose is for BB's and is not rifled. Keep your accuracy expectations fairly low and you will have a great time with your kids.

I would look for the lowest power pistol you could find.

A good option, and if you get 2 or 3 you won't have to hand off and wait to load. Cheap as chips.

Please don't damage your rifled barrels by shooting these darts. I'd best use small diameter piping tubes from ACE or Home Depot to make blow guns instead. Go visit garage sales if your town doesn't have heavy lockdown restrictions. I'm sure you could find the Daisy and Marksman pistols that shoots those darts. I had couple a long time ago both were surprisingly accurate too IIRC $10.00 and $15.00 when they were purchased new. YO!

I was told the alloy is much softer than the barrel and it would be thousands of shots if any difference happened at all. The dart would wear long before any etching of the barrel. I am not a metalologist and decided to play it safe. I bought 2000 pellets for each gun and 2 boxes of 100 air cartridges. Once the boys go through that, punching paper dart board targets, then, maybe at the next BBQ they can show their skills to the grandparents with the darts on a real cork board. Is there any options for a smooth barrel semi automatic that takes these darts? Thanks.
