How many HW50 owners didn't like the OEM shot cycle?

Got tired of waiting for the Vac seal magic sizing so I pulled it out and sized it. Ran about 50 through it. Velocity with CPHP jumped to ave. 800fps 11.23 ft lb. Obviously a little harsher cycle without a dragging seal but I already have several R7/HW30 and HW55's. Not what I wanted the 50 for.
IIRC CPHPs don't usually make much more energy than you're getting in those guns. It's been a long time since I ran them, but they never made as much power as JSBs Exacts in any of my Weihrauchs. If you are looking for power you might want to bronze brush the bore to clear the hard lead and try JSB 8.44s or 7.87s. It will take a hundred shots or more to reseason the barrel after a good brushing. Once seasoned the accuracy is typically better with the JSBs as well. It's up to you if you want to invest the time and money.

Good luck
Ron

My HW50 .22 was a train wreck. It only put out 8-9 fpe and it rattled and recoiled so bad it sheared the scope stop pin. The shoot 1000 pellets and it will settle down didn’t work with mine. I put a vortek kit in and it’s awesome now plenty of power with smooth cocking and shot cycle. I learned a lot in the process and enjoyed the tear down/ deburr/ kit install. It had a broken spring and damaged piston seal.

Yikes! Was that a new gun that shot like that? Wonder if the broken spring caused the harsh shot cycle or if poor fitting parts caused the harshness which resulted in the spring also breaking? My buddy's new HW50 from Krale is in transit. After all my hype about HW and keeping away from big box store Gamo's and such I hope he gets a good one. I may just order an ARH kit now for the future so if he experiences problems it will be a one day fix/improvement.

Are we going to see this buddy on the field target range?

The gun was brand new. If I wasn’t a tinkerer I would have sent it back and I’m sure it would have been fixed or replaced no questions asked. I had planned on installing a tune kit anyway. My chrony results matched the crony results that the dealer sent with the gun. My other Weihrauch i purchased was perfect in every way and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one. This HW50 of mine cocks and shoots amazing it just took a couple hours to get it that way.

I received my HW50 .22 as a gift from John Carr. It appeared as if he hadn't shot it very much but actually he had. He had just taken excellent care of it. He said it had too much vibration so he gave it to me. It was my first quality springer. The vibration was so harsh that my jaw hurt after only 10 or 15 pellets. I was going to order a ARH kit but decided to check the spring. It was bone dry, I lubed the spring and within 20 pellets the vibration had disappeared. That was two or three years ago and it's still vibration free. The lube tune was all that was required . I now have four Weihrauchs rifles. The HW50 is one of my favorite rifles.
