What’s the fastest anybody’s seen a regulated & non regulated Royal 500 send 25.43 or 33.95’s? 

Thanks again to Aaron Jordan for the dummy reg body I’m about to put in. Notice the difference in wide open body compared to the tiny brass inlet hole.

I’ll probably need a lighter spring. Reg is in and at 140bar. Perfect for .177 & .22. Not bad at all for .25’s but not where I want them.

I know it will use air like crazy but that’s what the big compressor & step down in-line reg is for. I don’t mind being tethered. I don’t mind a few high power shots on a stroll in the woods. 
I can switch it reg in, or out in under 5 minutes. 
One other improvement I’m gonna have Aaron do is metal inserts for the 4 barrel retaining grub screws. Also, 4 screws with knurled heads so tightening by hand will be sufficient. 
Maybe a locking but knurled preload adjuster. I’ll have to have my custom stock modified but it’s better than the current way.

Hi I would say if you fill gun to 250 bar , your valve and all orings and thin plenem is going to be seriously stressed , I dont know if the parts were designed for this ,



Here is what happened to my friend , he has texans and he wanted to buy a regulator external for one , so he did Now when you runa regulator you can use a carbon fibre on them and use a 300 bar fill to get more shots in theroy it sounded like ground breaking for that platform ,

Well he filled the gun the reg must of stuck or been defective , luckily he didnt have gun near his head well the gun was not designed to have over 250 bar and it blew up like a grenede he was not hurt luckily , it only cost him 2k for the gun and bottle and reg which blew up ,



I dont know if the limits of this platform , I have heard of guys running 190 bar on impacts but they seem to be fixing leaks more then shooting let us know

Under no circumstances should the system become unsafe if exposed to the max fill pressure. Regulators can and do fail, and people sometimes come up with Belleville stacks that effectively bypass the regulator. FX engineers are surely acutely aware of these realities, especially in today’s litigious society. So any and every regulated design on the market should be and must be either designed to safely handle max fill pressure or be fitted with a suitable burst disk.

I greatly appreciate the feedback and safety warnings. 
I do know that some of the earlier FX Royals, and possibly some of the few Elites weren’t regulated to begin with. 
The fellow who did the modifications has an Elite himself and went over everything. I decided to ask for more user friendly barrel set screw system when I realized swapping out 7 different barrels could be a PITA & wear those aluminum threads out. 
I’m not a believer in higher than 3K psi pressure air. More doesn’t necessarily mean better. I’d rather have a optimal length barrel for making the most out of what you’ve got.

Seems most want short bull pups that are lightweight and able to shoot slugs. I know even the new FX Impact isn’t meant for some of the crazy power mods that are being done. 
I welcome all advice and will say this.

HPA is considered 150psi & above. I was told of a tractor tire blowing while operator filled it. Max SWP fill is 90psi. The tire blew, and the airgun builder that told me about this thought his neighbors propane tank might have blown.
When he saw propane tank intact, looked around & saw tractor on highway, he headed over. He found the driver in the middle of the desolate Oklahoma road, dead. His face pushed in about 2” from the flap of radial belt woven tire that did it. Let’s assume that a bad gauge was in play & it was 150psi.
Either way, HPA isn’t to be trifled with no matter what the SWP is. 
So again, I GREATLY APPRECIATE any & all safety/other advice.

This is rated for a 220bar fill; but running tethered with unlimited air? Why go above 180. I’d rather run longer barrels at lower pressures.

James it’s been along time since I pulled a lot of power out of a FX 500 but I do remember the weak spot for my gun was the valve stem with the heavier spring and Hammer the stem would fail of course the caulking arm lever wasn’t having a good time either but never had any issues with overpressurization. And you’re right the shot count will suffer greatly. I made a plug just like you did for the regulator I also have an elite like yours but I’ve always left at 177 or 22 and low power hope this helps

Ive gotten 940 or so with king heavies with an r500. Using a boss hammerweight and huma reg. And 78fpe with a Boss in .25, if youre going unregulated id try to put a 6.35mm valve seat in and use a Boss hammerweight.

Another way of doing it is tapping the weep hole for the regulator in the block then youd gain all that plenum volume the dummy reg takes up.
