How low is it safe to shoot below regulator pressure

A properly tuned gun will have a balance between spring tension and valve pressure. Meaning that when the gun is fired the hammer strike will be enough to open valve momentarily to allow air through and then close but not enough to overpower valve and for lack of words bottom it out. As your gun comes off reg it will allow for the hammer strike to eventually overpower the valves air cushion and it will bottom out. I would think that this could damage your guns valve system over time. Hammerless guns (those controlled by solenoid firing) would not have this problem.

So long as not shot lower than @ 50 bar ( just a safe number & nothing specific )
Nothing bad will happen shooting below a regulated guns set point. ... only pellet slowing down and impacting progressively lower.
Some design valves you DO NOT want you to shoot way down or to empty.

As to the regulator ... Its natural state is seat wide open and bevels under no or minimal preload. Only when under pressure is a regulators internals forced to move. so once under the set point the reg keeps relaxing hurting nothing ;)
