I'm talking Diana 48 specifically, and all springers generically? Reason I ask is I don't like to leave it cocked, but sometimes my targets don't show up for 20 minutes. The gun is a pain to cock when target presents itself.
If it's cocked it's loaded. I always discharge it in a safe direction before putting it away.During a hunting session no problem. Leaving it cocked overnight or longer I'd be nervous about dry firing by mistake.
Shoot it in the dirt. No big deal. Some guns cant be easily uncocked. So your stuck keeping it cocked and loaded till uouf fine and just safely fire it to to discharge it . I guess that mostly bear trap guns . Or like a hw 95 that can be easy decockrd without firing it .. my hatsans have to be fired to discharge .. its a pain vs the hw. Lol
Now i do aim and shoot the air alot ..Shoot it in the dirt. No big deal.
This one ?Tom Gaylord tested them leaving cocked for months without issue.
