I'm also guilty of tinkering but am trying VERY hard to resist the urge. I fell in to the "mod it for the sake of modding" trap with my RC cars. It was with the cars that I had my "ah ha" moment and found I ended up pretty much full circle like a few of you have mentioned.

My overall goal is reliability and repeatablity with my builds now. Like @L.Leon said, my first question when I see anything to do with airgunning now is "why".

There are definitely a bunch of guns that if you’re skilled, you can improve the design. The Dreamtac, no. Big plenum, giant slug ports with the super short barrel, you’re just donating money to a companies bottom line. This goes for some other guns also. Just boxes of parts that only lead your gun to having to be on medication. Put it back to stock or mostly stock, well behaved companion.
