How do you remove silicone grease from pump surfaces?

I am replacing the seals in my Hill MK4 hand pump. The area around the white circular air filter is covered with a black greasy substance that I assume is silicone grease. I am trying to find a solvent that will remove the gunk without harming any of the aluminum and brass components. Does anybody know of such a solvent?

I am really careful with cleanliness and lubrication of this pump. I bought it new and have kept it pristine and have not over done the silicon grease. I was severely disapointed to dismantle the pump and discover all the black crud inside. The stuff looks like semi liquid black grease. This is the first time it has been taken apart. I don't think I have actually used this pump enough to need a rebuild. It simply quit pumping. I assume that was because of the round white air filter being plugged. Is this normal?

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Anything that would remove the 100% silicone grease will most likely dissolve the micron filter also. Read below instructions on where silicone should go, and never go.
Those 2 ball check valves and O-ring by micron filter should be free of it upon installing. I don't really know the new IV, only my III

It shouldn't be all gunked up but they do get dirty eventually. Look on EBay for Hill kits. Cheaper than paying $35 + shipping for $2.00 of parts.

Your pump shouldn't stop because the micron filter is filthy. What was it doing? Not drawing air? Handle rising up?

Do you have these instructions? I have a big AlkinW31E but still kept my Hill MKIII. They're a great pump.
