JUSTIFY(?!) My hobby without leaving my own property, from vermin eradication, property damage control, squirrel stew, grain fed bird pot pie, shooting in my basement 40', outside 100' range, ballistics & accuracy, maintenance, new equipment, new pellets, reading and study, safety, the forum, fellow air gunners. My investment of about $4500 for 2 FX rifles,( good equipment works better), a good scope with QD mounts switchs between rifles and an average of .04/ shot compared to building, racing, 4 wheeling, vehicles, model train lay outs, boating, clothes shopping,
camping, weekly dining or movie & snacks per year. In my urban setting I have a ball, I can shoot any time I choose. I have legally suppressed my shots & always have a back stop for any pellet fired. Stopped raccoon invasions of my attic (look up raccoon roundworm for a scare),
our egg laying ducks and hens are not killed and eaten nor the rabbits, no more dog vs 'coon encounters. Lawn furniture stuffing doesn't become squirrel & coon nests. People leave pet food outside 24/7; they spread seed for ground feeding doves & pigeons daily. There no end of 'coons, squirrels, and doves. We have a resident hawk which flys in for a meal a day somewhere in the neighborhood. Crosman .22 pellets have been as low as 6.89 per 500 tin here and and I laid in a supply. JSB .25 pellets for 'coons in bulk from Pyramyd Air with free shipping
at 3 to 4 cents a round beats rimfire and reloads of free lead cast bullets and once fired brass reloads ( 6 cents ) . I have access to 100 yd+ shooting simply by sharing my rifles with my friend a 15 minute drive away. A shoe box compressor and a couple of short oxygen bottles make
refilling easy. PBs became a pain. Range fees, drive time, cost of a range background check, cost & ammo restrictions. My airgun is a necessity and the benefits substantial. My initial expense becomes becomes less with each bit of damage I prevent, each meal I eat, and the
satisfaction of hitting my mark. So realize what you have vs what the PBer has: we can shoot 24/7 never leaving the property, airguns can be had from $150 to $4000(?), pellets average .04/round, vermin control.
This is a great hobby as long as you control each shot and do no damage. Remember never "........... Shoot your eye out"
