How do you deal with Daylight Savings Time? - Plinking at night video

20,000 lumens against the snow is awesome. This was last nite.

I really like nite shooting. You can see the trajectory of the shot much easier with the skirt of pellet lite up, with larger calibres. Crow

I agree! That is awesome! I am starting to reconsider my position of not wanting to annoy my neighbors with a flood light as that is awesome. I never shoot past 7:30 or so. What kind of light are you using? My little light advertised an insane number of lumens, which wasn't true.

I forgot to mention that, but you are right. That is one of the more satisfying parts of shooting at night, with a back light on the pellet. It may be fun to intentionally crank the power up to make a pellet spiral, just to see it "dance" in the light 🕺.

I set up a 12v battery and LED light with remote control. Works out pretty well.
I'm planning on doing the same thing on my BR target. I was planning on getting a solar charger, like this one at Harbor Freight, to maintain the battery so I wouldn't have to "lug" a battery up and down a hill. I shoot over a valley, so that wouldn't be fun.

I got this lite at Costco around $130. Can. in US probably be $90 -$100.

It has 2 power setting. It’s daytime on my range which is up to 45 yds. when turned on. I can pick up snow targets in the woods beyond to 60 yds. It’s really erie because the range is bright and all around is pitch black, I’m in the woods.
Watching the trajectory is really cool. Especially with my HW77 and HW97 both .25 cal. Amazing rifles. Enjoy Crow

I must say that I have been really happy with this thread!! This has been great, and we have an awesome hobby. Powder Burners can't discuss how they practice shooting at night. This is awesome!!

No kidding! A dual head unit like that would support me well as I have probably a little over 100 degree span to shoot all my targets. When I recorded the video, I had to move the camera while I changed mags.

It looks like you have a really fun range, @crowski !

I obviously need to step up my lumens, but this thread has been really "enlightening" 😋

I tried that solar charger on one of my smaller batteries and it would not keep up at all. Even in AZ where the sun shinesall the time!

Planning on using these, I already have one, only walk way use as of now, it stays on all night, It does have a motion action, that gets brighter as you walk by it. Maybe dive into the circuit and short the motion sensor. Or buy a few of them and use them as is.
Another situation is it does not turn on until it gets very dark, and I like to get the lights on when it is mid Dusk. Maybe try to mod the ckt board with an on/off switch.

You could put a piece of tape over the sensor to make it more "numb" and make the light come on earlier. A piece of painters tape may do the trick nicely. Different tape pass more or less light, depending on thickness and material and all that :geek:

Anyway, may save you some time opening up the circuit.

As a dashcam addict, and those still not able to automatic deal with this, then i compensate by adjusting the time zone, +1 hour in winter ( actual ) and then in summer adding in summer time +2 hours time zone.

At night, though not discreet, well if you can deal with white light, then the LEP ( Laser Exited Phosphorus ) flashlights are awesome, you can pretty much look at them as a white lases or a overkill laser pointer, and even a fairly small one that you can easy find room for on a rifle will give you 1/4 mile reach, a big one a mile just fine.
Most LEP flashlights have little spill of light

In this pic i think only the top one are LEP, the other two seem to spread out way too much, so they are probably just conventional LED flashlights.

When your M8 with the baseball bat sized maglite come around, thinking he and his torch are all that, you can pull a little LEP light out of your pocket, and just blow his mind.
A big LEP flashlight, well they are still small, at least compared to big ass mag lights with D cells in them
