How do reptiles show up in night vision?

Had me curious for those with a Pard, wraith, or ATN, etc.

What is a better way to hunt small game in very low light situations? Thermal or light amplified?

That's going to be partly a function of the game itself but generally thermal will show up things that NV won't show as well. You can use an IR spot light with NV and it helps quite a bit. That is not the same as thermal though. There are methods to use which can hide you from thermal but that's not something critters are likely to use. Now then there are certain critters which do not show up well in NV at all. Coyotes are hard to see in NV (or they are for my PVS-7s which are gen 3 (I think) NV. I've been told Polar Bears are also hard to see with NV. I'd think both of those animals would show up pretty well in IR being mammals. NV is sensitive to IR but not to the degree that actual thermal imaging devices are. You can see this when you look at something that has been heated.

I'd go with IR in most cases, but maybe someone with a clue will give you better feedback.
