How do I read wind and my kestrel?

Good day,

I was zero my rifle in at 50 yards. Then when I shoot at 100 yards and I use my kestrel, it will say hold left three minutes of angle. The issue is that I hold over what the kestrel recommends but it’s way too far off. How are you able to sync your kestrel with the current conditions?

I read somewhere here kestrel doesn't do to well with projectiles under the speed of sound.
I tried using my kestrel for my uragan and it does seem to be off. I've been using Strelok for years and it's accurate for airgun speeds.
What I've been doing now is using my kestrel to obtain the correct wind speed, humidity, temperature, and elevation, and enter the information into Strelok. This seems to work for me.

@wyshadow You’re doing better than I am. Mine appears to read wind fine, but I do not completely trust the elevation, temp, and humidity readings.

@Air-hunter-canyon I suspect that another issue may be that the wind is not always the same at your shooting position and your target 100 yards away.

Kestrel is pretty user unfriendly, you need to read the manual to know all the settings and how to get to them. When it comes to ballistic calculation every input is important and when the solution doesn’t match the real world results then that usually means at least one of the inputs isn’t correct. Strelok indeed is the more user friendly and feature rich ballistic calculators out there, Ketrel is plain PIA which is why I could spend the money on one. Even with strelok I still make mistakes from time to time.
