Hey folks I need a hour/use meter for my new Omega Air Charger compressor. There are lots out there however there is always a lot of folks here with previous experiences. Your input welcomed !! Thanks in advance !!

I and a number of people use "PSP Digital Waterproof Wireless Hour Meter for Motorcycle ATV Generator Small Engine" Approx $17 from many online retailers.
I have one on top of my Daystate LC110 switch box set on his sensitivity it seems to work really well.

I tried the same one on my Air Venturi compressor and found it unreliable. This is the one I ended up purchasing, but it was not cheap $80 http://catalog.enmco.com/item/enm-counting-instruments-lcd-hour-meter/mt10-self-powered-ac-dc-electric-motor-hour-meter/mt101r I put it on the compressor motor and it only runs when the compressor is running and not when the cooling system is running.

I had trouble getting the motorcycle / ATV vibration hour meter to work on the Lightning compressor I had. This meter has a variable sensitivity setting and putting it on the hi sensitivity setting solved the not reading problems. I also placed the meter on what would be the bell housing where the electric motor attaches to the compressor. Worked well after that.

I changed the vibration meter to high sensitivity and found it to be unreliable. I wanted it installed on top of my compressor where I could read it. I left it installed and now have about a four-hour difference between meters.

I have tried a Chinese-made meter that senses vibration but it didn't work. May be the vibration of my Yong Heng is not strong enough to activate the meter. Then I picked this one that senses AC voltage. Just connect it in parallel with the motor. Every time the motor is energized, the hours / minutes are counted. Should be much more reliable. I bought it from on-line shops in China. cost 5 bucks shipped to Hong Kong.

This is the one I use on my Lightning. It’s a Searon brand vibration hour meter from Amazon, cost was $19. It’s off by a bit when compared to my log time notes, because I put this on after two months of already using the compressor. I just did a big annual maintenance on the compressor, so I probably should zero it out and start fresh.

May be you can put it onto the engine of your car and let it count to the number of hours recorded in your log before putting it back onto the compressor again. This is what I did to my hour meter but as it senses AC voltage, I just connected it to the wall socket.

Here is what I finally sourced off good ole Amazon. $11.99 shipped. I will be using it for the first time tomorrow. I will post if it's a bust ....LOL

That’s the same one I got and posted in my pic. I first mounted it on top of my Lightning, but it wouldn’t read due to lack of enough vibration, so I moved it at the rear housing of the compressor, where it vibrates the most. Be prepared to use a better quality double sided tape, or just silicone it in place.

Mine failed everywhere on my Omega Air Charger. In a return bag to Amazon now. I'am in Colorado for a week or so and there are lots of places here to look. Maybe Harbor Freight. I will update as I move along.

It seems that the vibration at the location is really strong. A bolt seems to have been shaken off here :

I made a little stainless box for the hour meter very easy and 2 wires connect right to the motor when it
is on it starts counting

BBB...what meter is that or did I miss that somewhere ? So mounting the box to the sheet metal on the Shoe Box it amplifies the vibes ?

It is a 110 volt hour meter off ebay $13 it has to male plugs i ran two wires from the motor to the hour meter once the motor is running the hour meter is running and its accurate i timed it not connected to the fan just the motor.

Bigragu, I have what appears to be the same one that you and Mark2cars have. On my hour meter the total accumulated run hours can not be reset.
