I wonder if anybody has found one or the other to be more efficient for the power and or accuracy of an air rifle?

My springers are much more consistent on cooler weather. Say under 80f. Peak power as well but consistency is more important to me.

The co2 guns have performed well from 60 to a little over 100. Hotter is faster with those. Too much heat will lock one up, though.
I've never noticed much difference with the Sheridans or Crosman pumpers.
I don't care to own a springer, so I have no data on those.

In theory for a springer, it is entirely determined on 2 factors:
The ratio of thermal expansion between the piston chamber and piston seal.
And
The thermal performance of any lubricant in the system.
With two such wild card factors, no hard and fast rule exists. I would say most springers should not be shot in the exteme cold (20f or lower) unless special lubricants are used.
For a pumper this all goes out the window. They are immune to such issues by design. Unless it is so cold or hot that the o-rings in the piston fail.
