So far the pellets are getting trapped in the rubber mulch and there is no sound. There is 16 inches of packed rubber mulch in front of that steel. If there is sound, I'll know the mulch isn't settling into the pellet holes- but I know from past experience with rubber mulch that it settles and fill gaps as you shoot. Just give it a good shake from time to time. **BUT I'm not shooting anything over 50 ft lbs so this is all from experience with lower power rifles**

If there were no rubber it would hit with a dull thud, no twag- there's no vibration. The steel is totally bonded to the wood which is secured with 8 screws to the wood frame which has about 80 pounds of material attached to it.

Is there anything old 4x4's aren't good for? I swear I never throw them out. If you want to laugh----the 4x4's I used were old fence posts from my backyard. They were very popular with carpenter bees so I made sure to pick posts that were not "occupied"

Low and beyond, at least one of them had eggs in it, so when it came to the following spring there were FULL SIZE carpenter bees emerging into my living room. If you had to guess how many total- you probably would not guess about 20 over the course of 4 weeks. That was fun....NOT.
