Home invasion - mouse

nice .. i hate them things they pee all over and stink up my shed .. if i see one i'll strategically place a big sticky glue pad on one side and wait at the other with the chaser .. one way or the other its dirt nap time lol .. usually the pad gets them though not gonna lie, i'll fold his little but up in it, light a box on fire, and roast him lol ..

You're a lot more patient than I am. I guess that's why I'm not a hunter. The only rat I shot at 23 yards took me over half an hour waiting for to sit still long enough to get a shot off. It's much easier for me to use optically triggered snap traps that I made I just put them out there and it's never failed me. By the way I think that's a rat. Where there's one there are many. You should look around to find out where the entry hole is somewhere there's a hole large enough for rats to get into your garage.

I believe in urban environments it's rare to see more than one rat at a time. So shooting them is very time consuming. Unlike on a farm where there are hundreds of them and it's worthwhile to stake them out.

@dizzums. Roasting sounds very interesting, lol. Thanks for watching.

@Reeg. Ya, I was very reluctant as well but I trusted my S510 and I was confident with the POI check with my shooting box. When it stuck its head out it was the best position for me to take that shot.

@iAMzehTOASTY1. Neat idea but pellet was my go to in this case, lol.

@timmah. Thanks. It was getting too fat to squeeze thru that door as seem. Too much food supply for it I guess.

@BlackICE. Yes, I am insanely patience and I do question myself at times when I was freezing my ass out in the cold waiting for coyotes to show up lol. Rats are definitely hard to shoot especially with all the moving around that they do. Luckily I have plenty of practice at the farms where I shoot. Yes you might be correct that was a rat, but its big ears and long tail confused me as I did some research on line that indicated it wasn't a typical rat. So I am leaning more towards an obese mouse that gouged down too much food while it was living rent free in my garage. Well, it got tagged and never to be seen again. Hopefully that was the only one. I have left the pound cake from xmas there and it hasn't been touch since so fingers crossed.

Max as far as detecting future intrusions by rodents I recommend using a always-on video camera. Those that trigger on motion are geared more towards battery life than catching fast-moving critters. Many times they will trigger the camera but move out of the view of the lens before the camera actually starts recording. Since you're in the garage and have access to AC power I'd recommend it and always on camera to detect future rats or mice. When I really want to verify their are no more rats I leave the camera always running and recording, but triggering a alarm file if it detects motion. Then I look through the footage to see some movement in the bait I left and I can kind of use successive approximation to find the right video file to see what move the bait.
