Tuning Home built spring compressor

Made from some old scope rings, 1" aluminum rod, scrap aluminum block, 1/2-13 threaded rod, and a 1-3/4" diameter x 2" delrin rod.

The aluminum block has a slot in it so you can adjust the threaded rod to be centered on the receiver.

Looks real good. May I suggest you space the rings further apart? Will impart a little less stress on them. I do like the scope rings clamp design.

I do them pushing against the workbench, in a floor drill press, or in the lathe with the tailstock quill pushing. Old prewar BSA's after you remove the trigger guard you just push the barrel against a carpet scrap or something soft and unthread the barrel.
