Holy Grail for HFT ?

Hello Rudy. It’s been a month. I know you are meticultus in your prep, but any update?
an Avenue worth following or another HFT dead end?

My Thomas arrives next week... the NX8 is SO good that it is what i am mounting on the Thomas... of all my scopes to date, it has the sharpest clearest image that when combined with the Mil-CF2D reticle is the right amount of detail... next up is the ATACR's but overall, at 16X, the Sightron S3's hard still hard to beat.

there are two NF scopes in particular that do really well ranging
Although NF says that their scopes only focus to 11 yards they actually focus very clearly at 10 yards
the ATACR is on my .25 EFT Redwolf

interesting take on the NX8, a local WFTF shooter uses the same scope

personally the reticle is too busy for me, they offer this as an option

look at the mil version.. in sfp it works! but let the percentage of KZ scores tell the tale...

Rudy - I believe you, but I'd get lost in the woods for all the trees - heck sometimes I use this reticle

All it takes is getting used to finer holds! It takes some training which only means plinking a few sessions.

I like .2 mil hash reticles because you can easily see where 1 click/.1 mil is. If you want to use holds for the highest precision these work great.

Also like the .5 moa hashes in the Athlon ETR 15-60.

I give the S3 the slight edge at 16x but will probably compete with the nX8 because I prefer the reticle for holdovers.
I spent the last two days with the NX8 and from 10 - 35 yards it’s super accurate ranging, after 35 yards I noticed that it’s ranging becomes very sensitive to slight changes so you have to really work and double check your distances. I’m still more confident with the S3 but given a couple more weeks this may change

i would love an S3 with the Nightforce MRAD reticle options for HFT. Oh my!
The Nightforce scopes are iwonderful in many respects 4 Nightforce scopes, 2 ATACR's and 2 NX8's.
I also have two sightron S3's 10-50x60's. but the MOA-H reticle just needs more deliniation for HFT purposes.
My 6 Athlons are super nice as well for HFT, esp at a price point of $1200.00 cheaper than a Nightforce or Sightron S3...
It's always a trade off.
When i finally arrive at the right scope on the right rifle (like wine and cheese pairing) I'll start selling off the unused scopes, not because they are inferior scopes, but because they didn't work for my eye/brain connection.
