I think what happened is the pellet flew through the squirrels head, then hit the fence pole behind him before ricochet, which is what looks like the pellet bouncing off his head. Nice shot either way!

Good eyes there ED. Yes, it hit the fence post and left a mark on it. It was so fast I had to watch it eight or ten times to figure it out.

Did the smart thing later. Went in to settings on YouTube and slowed the frame rate down. Makes it much easier to see whats really happening.

Yeah, I slowed it way down on my editing program. Through the head, ricocheted off the fence post. Good eyes guys! I was using my Boss, .30 @ around 876fps.

The guy on the edgun leshiy channel has that happen all the time. He tunes his 25 cal guns down to 14 fpe and makes precise head shots. Often the pellet bounces off the skull. It acts like a hammer and the animal dies instantly. Talk about blunt force trauma!

I will say that my last time at the dairy I shot a dove that went right down which just dropped like a stone, BUT upon retrieval I could not see an entry or exit wound. I was using my 25 cal Taipan set at 30 FPE, so using the process of elimination I thought maybe the dove was knocked out. When I retrieved the dove I decided to wring the neck, just in case.
