Welll, sort of depends alot on the trigger by my way of thinking. Real lite triggers, like match triggers on bench rest rifles, you should have as little contact with the rifle as possible.Finger on the trigger and that's all.On the others that take a little to alot more pressure that's not possible without pulling the gun off target and under some situations be unsafe. What-ever way you hold it that is steadiest as the trigger breaks. That's the best advice I got. Now to be longwinded about it and make it more complicated than it has to be. What position are you in when taking the shot? Your going to use the steadiest hold available to you.Sitting, standing, prone, from a bench,cross-stiks,leaning against a tree,,propped on your knee.Resting the forestock on a bag,top of your hand,or a limb or post while shouldering it.How you are dressed, for summer or winter will affect your hold. How tight of a grip and how strongly you pull it into your shoulder and still maintain the most steady sight picture possible. They're all factors. They all affect the 'harmonics of you and the rifle if you will" differently, some slightly,, others more so. Just go shoot and try not to get analysis paralysis, lol
