very invasive, i have seen pictures of massive amounts of Iggy's all over a home in Florida . they destroy gardens , MY cousin counts 15 or 20 , anytime in his yard /on the roof / , in the trees .Why are iguanas hunted? I had no idea that they were hunted, nor did I know how prevalent they are in some parts of the US. When I saw t-shirts and hats with iguana hunting themes, I thought it was some kind of insider joke.
I also did not know what a problem squirrels had become. We have them around and there’ve ALWAYS been some anywhere we lived. But as a kid, I never heard one peep about them being a home-destroying nuisance. I suppose this change over the decades partly resulted from more homes being developed in places that used to be just land.
What is worse, they undermine the seawalls and destroy native species, such as the burrowing owl. Jessica the Iguana Sniper has a lot of info on this problem on YouTube. Frankly, this is a battle that isn't going to be won, all because some idiots had to have their lizard then let them go. We have some menbers from Puerto Rico on AGN they can tell you the damage the 3.5 million Iggys have done there. Every female can lay 24+ eggs.very invasive, i have seen pictures of massive amounts of Iggy's all over a home in Florida . they destroy gardens , MY cousin counts 15 or 20 , anytime in his yard /on the roof / , in the trees .
Even then you'd have the eggsyeah to get rid of them you would have to have a line of people the width of Fla. sea to sea and just walk down to the end of the keys shooting .
i wonder about property prices ?
So it’s yet another case of one or a few jerks turning their monsters loose to overbreed without enough natural predators. What is worse, they undermine the seawalls and destroy native species, such as the burrowing owl.
