Highest pressure on a foot pump?

Got a PCP and a FX foot pump many moons ago and i huffed and i puffed until blue in the head and got next to nowhere. I mean i gave up before the gauge vent to 140bar~2000psi. It just sat there unshot due to low pressure.

5+ years later i got a YH compressor + bottle and later on an Altaros booster.



Do folks really huff and puff their PCP's as an only means??? (poor folks!)

I would hunt for slaves and flog them to do it before going there myself again!

I've gotten my Chinese floor pump with a dead head in the hose to 4200 psi. Now pump up a gun to 4200 psi, nope I would be dead.

145lb beanpole here. Been pumping dozens of PCPs to 3000 psi for years. No big deal. It’s technique, not strength. Lock your arms and let your weight fall.

The Cheap $39.50 Chinese pump from Aliexpress with the fold up skeletonized boomerang feet is much easier to pump than the old FX pumps. Go buy a good filter for it. Yo!

If you want something easy to pump get a Benjamin Discovery or Maximus only 2000 psi fill or if you have the means and are somewhat of a Lieutenant Columbo find an old first gen MAC-1 USFT only 1450 psi. Yo!

Havent used footpump since my early 70's, but back then, 3000psi wasnt so hard pumping a gun's airtube. I don't use my legs to apply more body weight into pump strokes, just arms and upper body. Maybe your hose or a fitting leaked a bit?

The old FX pumps are hard to pump compared to the current ones. The cheap Chinese pump seems rather easy in comparison. Yo!

4500 psi, but you need to weigh more than 250 lbs or have help.

Its too easy on the up stroke, but way too hard on the down, stick a couple of barbell weights on the handle ends to even it out, and cancel your Gym membership

I used to pump my FX Boss up to 250 Bar. I'm only 155lbs. It's all in the technique. Pausing at the top and bottom of the stroke reduces the number of strokes by 1/3 as compared to not pausing. And, stiff arm it and use your weight on the down stroke. 

I like the idea of hanging weights on the handle to help with the down stroke!

I still hand pump every now and then. I find it satisfying in being able to charge my rifle without any outside source.
