High end gun "BUG"

Guys shooting , fx, daystate, kalibr guns etc,

When did you get the bug and when did you know you had it?

Yesterday I went to the range with both my Texan .308 I built which performs really damn well and my new Dreamline Classic .22 in ACZ chassis....

I saved the Dreamline for last,

After shooting that rifle and watching a 19 round mag do same ragged hole at 50 yards and then bullseyeing most of the targets at 100 yards with it, I have ZERO desire to shoot anything else.... I was warned of this bug, and I feel I may not recover.

Yes ,that is how your safe gets full . I have a Gaunlet original .177 that just sits in the safe . I shoot Daystate Pulsar now , But , (hmmm that word again ?) the bug that bit me is Springers HW97 K tuned . good luck filling your safe .

Maybe the bug is good? I legit posted anything that isnt useful in regards to my FX as I do not know if I will be going "backwards: (for lack of better words)

I see your point. Was bitten by the bug years ago when the PCP's came into fashion. Bought and sold many, high-end PCP's and settled on keeping a few Crickets, and a tuned Hummingbird (Colibri). Truth is, they sit in the safe , and my primary interest now is Springers. I have been bitten by the Springer bug and its just as addictive as the high-end PCP bug, maybe moreso for me, as I tear them all down , refinish and tune them, etc. The PCP's Ive owned never required the level of hands on care that the Springers do, especially older ones. And its very gratifying to buy a 35 year old Springer, tear it apart, rebuild it, and have it shoot almost as well as a PCP gun. I ask myself, when you have a spring gun that shoots like this, why do I have all that $$$ tied up in PCP's, tanks, compressors, etc.. Again, personal preference, and if I'm going to the farm to hunt pigeons out to 100 yards, I'm talking my 25 Cricket. . I have shooting buddies that will never own a springer, and thats cool too.. Lets the bugs bite, I say..

In 2004 I started out with the best I could find and ended up with a Theoben Rapid 12 .20 caliber and Crosman premier 14.3 gr. pellets that printed a sub 1\2" 50yd. group first day out...I didn't know that much about it or PCP's in general but the "hook" was set in me from that time on, I still have that target...that Theoben led me to the SLR98 gasram rifle in 2010 which "hooked" me on them...and over time I discovered FX, Daystate, Taipan and the German Springers, yes the rabbit hole is deep! (To feed the bug).

High I am Bio I have an addiction. ;^)

Well once I had invested $1000 into my $60 Crosman, it looked as if I was maxed out on what I could do, so I figured why not buy something better. So, after seeing what the Impact could do and all of the versatility it had I bought a Gen1. Modified it to a Gen2 then bought an M3 and then the core of a Gen2. And in between there somewhere an SK19.

So, hard to say whether it started with the $1000 Crosman 22xx gun or the Impact but I am still werqing on both never finished they are.

Yup quite addicting these things are for sure.

Around 24 years ago I was down in Phoenix going to some gun stores looking for my next combat pistol for IPSC which I could not find. When I saw Robert's add in the yellow pages. I though hmmm I haven't had a good air rifle since I was a kid(had a Diana M27 which I wore out), so I went all the way over to Tempe to check his store out. I walked out with a Daystate Sportsman multi pump which had a pretty walnut stock, brass trigger guard I think??, brass cocking handle, and deep blued finish! He invited me to a FT match his club was having near the Flagstaff area so I attended. I got 36 out of 40 with it and got the bug for that sport as well as a renewed interest in air rifles again.

A few months later I traded it in for a Daystate Harrier pcp, a tank, ect.

Like Paul Harvey would say - and the rest is history. Had some good airguns over the years and bunch of not so good ones.

In a couple more weeks I'll have a new Thomas FT rifle to compete with in the Sonoron Desert GP.

Don't know if that's the last airgun I'll buy - probably not.

Lol. I went Lowe’s today and bought material, including caster wheels, to build a rolling floor gun rack as my wall racks in my large walk in vault are nearly full. With nearly thirty custom tuned guns, the majority are Air Arms and Weihrauch springers plus Raw, Daystate, and AA pcps, I am beginning to get pretty selective but I love working on and shooting all of them, so don’t really want to not have room to acquire desired airguns for my collection when the opportunity arises.

it could be considered an addiction by many.

Kevo1288 .. just a little fun advice because that texan almost got out in this round.. 308 n 257 texan are the same valve etc.. if I were to buy a long barrel my choice would be 257 .. why I don't see the fun in the 308 round if look the majority of molds available are what I would call magazine rounds because they literally fit the bulldog magazine.. interesting high BC molds in 308 exists but they start at 150g + n that factory valve will not hold it self to long with a power spring n a 3600 psi fill .. so a custom valve is needed n so one .. a 257 have way better BC n with a 3100 psi fill you should be moving those arcenal 92g noble Spitzer pretty darn good .. 257 has way better molds selection so you will be shooting a higher BC bullet faster there is the fun for me .. I hope AEA comes with a 308 bullpub that would be fun...a bulldog with a 308 texan barrel fitted at 33" long that gun still is 36" long ... a texan with the 34" barrel n a donny fl .. is 51 " long I take 36" long gun all day... + a 308 bulldog is regulated Bryan told me that it should do almost 15 regulated shots with 115g in the 920+ fps ..

That is my issue with the texan right now the 113 grain .309 I am casting and sizing to .309 shoots very accurately but it drops so so fast at 100 yards its disappointing. Maybe you're right, maybe it is time to order a .257 barrel for this rifle, full length. You've been nothing but helpful to me since you've reached out to me and I really appreciate it.

My first PCP was the FX Cyclone, but i think when i got it they had been out for a while, this was 10 years ago

I think there was a older version with a LW barrel but mine are with the original ST barrel.

I got the Maverick a few months ago after waiting for it for 6 months, and right now i am awaiting the phone call that tell me i can go pick up yet another PCP in the shape of the AGT vulcan 3

When it is healthy i dont call it a addiction, i had a few of those too, but are well past that,,,, though it was still too late i quit.

Well where do i begin? My first PCP was a Shamal, then a GC2, Titan, You'er asking what is a Shamal,GC2,Titan,that's how long I've been shooting.[that's not counting springer } My safe is full, some of you know me. Guns all over my garage.Springers,,,countless R1s,,in 22,don't own a 177, Gave my son James my Marksman 56 that I won at the 1989 Worlds Field Target Championship here in California at Prado Park.

Model 70 ,HW77k,Crosman 6500,7 TX200, Pro Sport, Pro Elite, Ill stop here,.Lots more.

Like I tell all new and old shooters, "That airgun you bought is not going to be the last airgun you will own."

"I would have gotten a better score if I had used my other gun"
