I added to my QB78 collection by buying a QB78S at a giveaway price. I assume they weren't a big seller at Walmart. The synthetic stock seems extremely well made and fit. That said, the weird pistol grip and look-through butt are a pain at the shooting bench when using a rear bag, and the gun is so deep it won't fit in any of my gun cases.
PLEASE, can you build a QB78 (Chief, too) with a conventionally shaped synthetic stock of the same quality? Perhaps with an adjustable cheek piece? Modern iron sights, too (no fiber optic sights). Machining the top of the receiver tube flat should let you drop-down (to deepen) the scope grooves, too.
