I recently picked up an HW97 in .22 which was on my "list" for some time. I perfomed the usual cleaning/polishing and de-burring. It has the factory spring with a 2.55 mm spacer and "moly impregnated" Vortek piston seal. I used my own "special concoction" of spring lube/vibration damping compound, piston and piston seal lube...ect.
Very Happy with the preliminary results,as it's not actually run-in just yet.( less than 200 pellets)
Seems to like the JSB 15.89's and 18.13's. Out of 35 shots with the 15.89's it's getting a Hi of 643,Low of 627,Ave of 636,Es of 16 and a Sd of 3.
The suprise was the RWS Super Points. Although they didn't shoot quite as good as the JSB pellets, here's Their numbers from 15 shots: Hi 686, Low 681, Ave 683,Extreme spread of 5 and Standard deviation of 1 (One!) Heres that group...
Here are the 15.89's...
Both shot benched at 30 yds.
I now understand the hype and dedicated following that the HW97 has! Mind you,I also own a Pro Sport and an LGU in .177. But that 97! DAMN!!
Can you say "Keeper"? Wooo HOOOO!!
Mike.
