Helpful Hint (Maybe)

I've been playing with my video equipment and I'm learning. Taking notes as I go. Focusing has been an issue for me and apparently for others. I discovered something using the tactacam mated to a Nikon X black SFP scope. I had the unit out last evening and I was shooting at about 40 yards hoping to get a groundhog that's taken residence in my back yard. Well I'm getting off track. Never did see the GH but I put a target down range and shot a couple shots. I viewed it on my computer and it was just sightly out of vocus. That particular scope does not parallax down as close as some of my other scopes but I really like the scope for hunting. OK get to the point

This morning I just turned the power down from 16 to about 8 and reshot the video. The results were the best I've seen.

My hint is don't shoot at the scopes maximum settings if you are struggling with focus. Perhaps the issue is the scope and not the camera. Now this may not be relevant to your scope. I've noticed that on some of my side focus scopes the parallax is really hard to judge while looking thru the ocular lens. Maybe the ultra high end scopes are better. It would be nice if you could depend on the settings. Range find the target set the parallax by the numbers and shoot. Hasn't worked for me. BUT in the future I'm going to dial back from the maximum power on my scopes and see it this works across the board.

Have others of you found the same?
