You can do the sling stud which will work fine or you can get a 5 slot picatinny rail, find the center of stock, mark it and the drill and tap it then put a helicoil in each hole, I used a 10-24 kit with my synthetic royale stock, I did not drill all the way threw the stock only about 3/16 or 3/4 of the thickness. I think if I did it again I would probably just go with a sling stud...it would be the same on a wood or Laminated stock, I have seen where they have drilled all the way threw and used a full length helicoil with the rail just make sure the screw is flush and not sticking out, took me about 20 minutes, just did mine last week.
