Tuning Help Regulating a .22 Evanix Sniper K? (Houston, we have a problem)

I got help already with how to regulate my new Sniper K Evanix in .22. I was going to throw in an Altoros or Huma reg but after I talked to Will Paitt , (famous Evanix tuner), he said he doesn't prefer either of those because it's better to have the kind where you drill a hole in the tube. Then the air does not have to make a sharp right turn.

I don't want to bug Will again (he hates Evanix now). What kind of reg is he talking about? Brand? -Nate

^ Without seeing inside the gun, and seeing the exact regulator in question, I can't confirm. But is almost certainly the scenario. If you DO want to drill the tube for an atmospheric reference port.... Huma will make you a custom regulator to whatever the ID of the tube is. I believe they will also make a custom plenum if you desire. The tricky part is without seeing where the regulator would rest and what kind of volume would be behind it (or not)... I don't know whether a plenum would be called for or not.

Is the gun shooting wildly inaccurate thus requiring a regulator with no choice?

I put in regulators as THE LAST DITCH RESORT only if I can't get the gun to group at 50 yards due to bad engineering from the factory.

Be aware it's a foreign added part that will require servicing sooner or later and your first shot may or at not be always on target.

I would shoot the rifle as is like Odoyle suggested. Find the sweet spot in the the fill to get the velocity spread within 4% and call it done . I’ve always wanted one of those but in .25. From what I’ve seen of them they are capable of huge power. It’s too bad the magazines are narrow like the Rainstorm II other wise it would be just about perfect as a heavy .223 slug shooter.
