Help on accuracy?

So I’m just casually shooting a standard red Ryder (that has not been oiled in 5k shots and has been disassembled after 1k) and I just can’t seem to have good accuracy, even when my sights are right on the target. I’m shooting at one of those tiny spinning targets and the small one is about 1.5” diameter and I can’t even hit it consistently from these sights from 10 yards. I’ve been shooting for two weeks in total and my thought is that I grew a bad habit of not holding the gun horizontally to the ground and that’s why I’m missing, but I don’t know if that’s the case. Also I see people getting upset when getting a inch group at 30 yards and giving terrible reviews, and that makes me wonder why can’t i can’t even group anything at a inch and half at all! I could blame the sights that you barely see anything through the fat front sight, but I don’t know. Is it me or the gun?

It is not April first, so I will bite. You are more likely running into the absolute limit of accuracy of the Red Ryder. I had one as a kid, and even with the best aiming, it had limits to its accuracy. If you give what city/state you live near, you will probably find someone who will help you out, and perhaps let you shoot something which is more accurate.

the thing to remember is consistency,place the gun and target so you can See the path of the BB,you will see the BB curves so all you have to do is to instersect the point of curve to the bullseye.....you will be surprised how much of a curve a projectile makes and still be able to hit the target..bowlers or is the ballers and pitches know all about the curve,

Yeap it's the gun. Even if you buy the cheapest break barrel pellet gun it will seem heaven sent compared to what you are shooting now. You won't regret it.
