Help me with Chinese pump disassembly...

When I try to turn the collar to get this part out, the tube moves freely against the nut being held by a wrench

Why are you doing this? I am unaware of anyone having pump issues with the you you have. Yo!

The pump is just really rough and black group appears in the one way valve every time I pump my gun.

That is probably moisture and oil and maybe rust. Probably the first two. I don’t use handpumps as they compromise your gun. If you want to avoid moisture go towards high pressure air tanks or a high end compressor. Most gun manufacturers won’t warranty your gun if you’ve used a handpump.

I use two filters that should keep the moisture out(?).

Well that will only help a little on the output. But you don’t have one on the air input! And because you don’t, that is where the moisture comes in and there is no way to get a filter prior to the input. So the moisture is trapped in the handpump. The output filter is the one that matters for the gun. Most of those filters are Mitigating but not eliminating

Here is a you tube video showing some disassembly of a chinese pump: https://youtu.be/_R2aiKOQDuo. Its been awhile since I took mine apart since I have a scba tank now, but contrary to what Yo said, I have had a fair amount of issues with mine - have had to replace o-rings and seals several times over a relatively short period. I was meticulous about keeping it lubed with silicone and resting it while pumping, and still had the problem. Maybe I just have a lemon. Anyway once you get yours apart and clean it up and replace any needed seals and orings it will likely be fine. I wouldn’t worry too much about moisture produced as long as you take reasonable care. If you peruse the forums you wlll find many air-gunners who handpump in very moist climates with negligible issues to their guns.

I would be interested to know which manufacturers Lt Columbo knows about that void your warranty due to hand pump use. Many of them actually sell hand pumps with their label on them. Pretty certain Fx, Daystate, Hatsan, and Crosman do not have any such language in their warranty and even have directions in their owners manual about using hand pumps.

I HUMBLY stand corrected! GREAT FIND VIDEO! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS! DEFINITELY A MUST SEE FOR GOING THROUGH THE CHINESE PUMP. 👍 Yo!

I know how you disassemble it, and I have the pump filter and an aftermarket filter that are keeeping the moisture our on the output. The base is just unscrewing from the nut!

If your only concern is the nut unscrewing. Try some blue lock-tire so it doesn’t become unscrewed. As for the black stuff, I don’t know because usually moisture in the pump comes out this grey nasty stuff not black. As long as you have filters on the output your gun is more protected. My point on the input is that because you are working with air and not an inert, dry gas like nitrogen, you are naturally introducing that air in to the pump and with the friction and the heat and the compression, even in central California, produces a good amount of Moisture. Even with filters some of that goes in to your gun. Do I think your gun is going to parish with all the souls of other guns here on AGN because it used a hand-pump? Nah. I’m just saying moisture exists and is produced by the hand-pump process.

Sorry if I let you astray on a Segway note. It’s been awhile since I owned a hand-pump, but I did have some screws unscrewing good and I used lock tite (the blue one that I use on my gun) and went ahead and placed it on there. If you could take a picture there is a lot of knowledgeable people here, and pictures do wonders for deducing the issue.

As for the warranty void issue I mentioned above, I’ll look right now and post it if I can find it. If not I’ll post that I couldn’t find it.

Pretty much every single thing you cited is a disclaimer primarily to prevent users from producing detonation in their rifles, you know this right?

Even the Air arms disclaimer about hand pumps specifically states just to use dry paks. and no where does it state warranty is voided...

Please man, calm yourself.

They asked for where I’ve seen this, this is where I’ve seen this. I don’t care if you use a hand-pump. I wouldn’t.

Also the lines I provided from the first three examples I could find are not about detonation. You are reading on other lines. Also, every warranty states that use of normal wear and tear will not be met with repair, so if you are using a hand-pump and introducing elements into your rifle that otherwise wouldn’t have been introduced, at the very least you are causing the wear and tear of your rifle to increase many times over a standard HPA tank.

Anyway I’m done with my 2cents.
