Help me figure out what Im doing wrong

I received my adapter to fill my Ranger XR yesterday. Filled the gun and shot it twice, just to see how well the moderator worked. Noticed today that it was quite a bit under the full line on the guage. Thinking I didn't quite get it full, I went back to the scuba tank and filled it to the top of the green on the guage. It was down 20 bar immediately after. This is my first PCP with a probe type fill. Suggestions?

The air heats up as it is compressed so you fill with a higher pressure. As it cools the pressure goes down. You will loose 10 to 20bar when filling. Many of us will fill that much over so we have a full fill when we are done. Others will top off once the tank/gun cools.

To check for leaks make sure your gun has cooled before you look at the pressure for the first time.

Definitely fill it slowly, and maybe let it settle a few hours before taking a reading. Then let it sit overnight to see if you're losing air. If it is leaking it's probably at the inlet valve. Get some leak detection fluid, best applied with a dropper.

Sometimes a phone pic depending on the angle you took it can cause doubts as to wether you have a leak or not, especially slow ones. Wipe your gage down with rubbing alcohol and even dry take some masking tape and tape it to the right side of your pressure guage’s needle to see if it lowers in pressure(moves left) away from the tape, and if checking regulator pressure for creep place the tape on the left hand side of the needle to see if it climbs up(or moves right) in pressure.

i use to do the picture taking thing and like I said, depending on the angle, your eyes could play tricks on you later on. The tape method does not lie. Sometimes on the tape I’ll note down the actual time I applied the tape so if it’s 24 hours later I know for sure
