help me choose

I think the Hawke is appropriate for the gun. Good quality, and for pesting, a lower magnification allows a wider field of view. Higher magnification, narrower field of view, which can make it more difficult to find the pest in the scope. Wider FOV is better in this case.

As for the gun, still recommend the Marauder all the way. Marauder was my first PCP so have a soft spot for it, and they've just gotten better along the way.

Build quality is top notch for the price point. Gauntlet makes me nervous for a first gun, as it's got some known issues out of the box. Hajimoto did a complete teardown and initial review here:

You might add the Benjamin Fortitude to the list, but, and it's a big but, there have been build problems with it as well. Initial run had leaking issues. That may be corrected, but do research before buying. Uses Marauder magazines, is regulated, and received good initial reviews. I don't have one, so cannot speak directly to build quality from personal experience. Just some posts on the forums.

All in all, the Marauder and Hawke scope would literally be a pest killer combo. Add an inexpensive bipod for some bench pesting, will make life easier. Good luck!

The Marauder sounds like the best option, so will go for it. I think i will get a not-so-expensive Hawke scope with milldot to start off with. I think something with a wider FOV is better. I have a telescope which I use for astronomy and I know that with the narrow fov it can be difficult to find stuff. I can always upgrade the scope later and use the old one for my springer. I would rather spend more cash on the rifle now and less on the scope. Things are just crazy expensive in my country cause our currency is worth nothing. Our government is running the country into the ground.... I will probably purchase another rifle is a year or so..... if they do not ban these by then.... i watched a video of a guy who has put around 15000 pellets through it and it still shoots like the day het got it... sounds like a winner....

Thank you for all the advice... not getting much of it around here.... the rifle shops are of no use as you quickly realize they just want to sell you the most expensive items and most of the sales people have little to no experience with PCP. This is why it is so much better to hear from people who owns these and have the experience.

That's very possible The barrels last longer in pellet guns than in powder burners. Not as much stress on the rifling. There is some maintenance along the way though. If I remember correctly, Crosman recommends lubing the Probe O-Ring every 500 rounds. The Probe O-Ring will wear over time but is a common O-Ring (#9 again, if I remember correctly), and is easily replaced. Past that, there are some O-Rings in the air tube and around the baffles. Really simple to maintain.

I think you've picked a good, solid entry platform that will serve you for many years to come.

Marauder is a great starter with lots of room to stretch your legs for upgrades if one chooses. Here is my HIGHLY customized marauder that will rival anything comparable for the money I've spent. Not much of a marauder anymore. FX's dreamline 'tactical' and 'lite' designs are almost 1:1 to mine, with the same idea to minimize / save weight while adding functionality not normally found on other rifles. My marauder = 5.2 lbs undressed, fx dreamline = 5.5 lbs undressed.

Quite remarkable similarities ;)

Might be worthwhile to get a cantilever scope base so that scope can be mounted properly. The way that scope is setup could present issues.

Agreed 100%.

Can't say I've ever seen a scope mounted like that.

Not sure why the stock's length of pull is so short.....would make for extreme angles in the average-size shooter's elbow and wrist.

If the stock was extended, the scope could be mounted as it's design intended for it to be mounted.

All that said, to each his own. If his results on target are acceptable for him, then that's all that really matters.

True, would be very difficult to execute the fundamentals correctly with an LOP so short. A longer LOP would benefit the shooter in a couple of ways. At least it looks adjustable.

How hard is it to mount a bipod to a Marauder? And I was wondering about sandbags for shooti.g especially to zero the scope. Some say that pcp do not work well on sandbags but i have seen several reviews where people use sandbags... or should I rather use a bipod? Is it o.k. to use a bipod for setting up your scope or should i rather just get sandbags. The bipods are just quite expensive. If they are worth it then i could save up for some. Thing is just that I plan on using the rifle for dealing with birds in our vineyards and I do not think that I will be laying down much... probably use something to rest the rifle on. I am not a horrible shot but have only used springers. This will be my first pcp. The vineyard blocks are quite small so I will probably be shooting under 50 yards or so. Perhaps a bit further once I get better. My springer is just loud (Gamo CFX) and reloading takes takes time. Also, every time I have to reload the springer I lose my position. It would be great to reload without too much movement.

I found a scope, the Discovery VT-Z 6-24 x 44... illuminated and milldot. Are these ok? Or should I rather go for cheaper Hawke which is non illuminated?

Was at AOA last week and they have been suggesting the Diana Outlaw as an entry level pcp. I believe at $499 it is regulated. And I was very surprised how light it was. I had to hold and mess with the Walther Rotek when I was there. Always liked the look. It was very beefy and pretty heavy. Nice little gun in the hand. Can’t speak for performance. There are videos on both these guns out there.

Good luck shopping? Sometimes the most fun about the purchase.

Illuminated reticles are something I've never used. I have them, but never put the batteries in the scope. I have tried them and if shooting during daylight hours, they aren't necessary. If shooting at dusk, then they do help. I just don't shoot much at dusk. If you plan on shooting at dusk, do get the illuminated reticle. If only planning on shooting during daylight hours, then it's your choice.

I can recommend the Walther Rotex RM8 Black-PCW. It's robust, the barrel is a Walther barrel. Of course, the PCP gun for itself will not make the most in precision until you have found the right pellet that fits best for you and the gun. The JSB Exact 4.52 works perfectly with my Walther Rotex RM8 so far.

Here is a good review https://youtu.be/YXyeqBy66b0?t=111
