Heart-to-heart with Sandra

Well, I just got off the horn with Sandra at RAW. She said the action and barrel of my RAW HMx .357 (130 ft-lbf regulated) is sitting on the leak-test table waiting for my Forest Green laminate thumbhole w/ adjustable cheek piece stock to have my Euro Rail installed in the forestock. The guy who does that is on vacation and will not be back until the day after tomorrow :-(. But, Martin has already test fired her and the stock is complete except for the Euro Rail. She should ship sometime next week. We're talking UPS four-day ground from Minor Hill, TN to Imperial Beach, CA. It won't be long now!

I also discussed financing options. She said that personal check is preferred, but that full payment with credit card is accepted. RAW has no in-house financing plans.

I also inquired about some issues I was just personally curious about. I asked Sandra how the machining of the Euro Rail channel was done since my stock already has otherwise been finished. She said that the action and barrel is checked and test fired using a dummy stock and the action is not fixed to the customer stock until right before shipping. I thought that the complete rifle was test fired, but I guess not. She said that even though the stock was already finished, the machining for the Euro Rail will not affect the fit and finish. The look will be perfectly blended as if the Euro Rail channel had been machined prior to sanding, staining and polishing. I'm sure she's right.

The timing is kinda whackadoo though. It looks like she will arrive at my address during the time I will be sitting for the CA State Bar Exam! What are the odds of that?! I'm sure that the package will have to be signed for. Jeesh, it's always something! Luckily, I have a cool resident manager at the complex in which I live, and he will sign for packages. But still. At least I'll have something waiting for me when I get home :)

You know, Michael; I ask myself that question every day! Luckily, I buddied-up with a farmer down on the border who lets me hunt and pest on his horse farm. It's mostly scrub desert, but there's some groves of trees (regular ones, not those freakin' palm trees that are everywhere down here like weeds!) There's even a nice stream that runs through the property and a nice size pond with ducks and other waterfowl. My hunting license has a duck stamp, but I'm not sure I can take ducks with lead pellets. But, there's plenty of bunnies, squirrels, and a boatload of doves! I even see a coyote from time to time. But, you're right; it's slim pickins down here on the hunting tip. Boy, it sure was culture shock when I moved here from rural Pennsylvania!

BTW, what's the ETA on changing my user name to Animal_Hitman?

Marcella69 you may want to rethink your options about letting someone pick up your package it will be 2 weeks ago this Thursday that UPS supposedly delivered my impact well it never got there UPS is saying high probability it was delivered to the neighbor talk to the neighbors they know nothing package was shipped insured signature required and it's still manage to get messed up Utah airguns of been great during the process UPS will no longer speak with me $2,000 airgun and no one knows where it is so you may want to pick that package up at your local UPS good luck my friend on the exam

"marcella69"I sure hope I can be here when my baby's delivered. I pity the fool who tries to steal my baby!
If the delivery date conflicts with your schedule I would contact/visit the UPS delivery facility and request that they hold it for your pickup.

I have done this in the past with expensive guitars that i have purchased.

A little travel (30 miles for me) for a secure, receipt of an expensive item.

I agree with JLC. You can go online and set up a UPS account and after its shipped have it held at their facility or at a UPS store near you. They will hold it up to 5 days. Whenever I have scopes or rifles sent to me, I make arrangements to pick them up. I don't want them left on the porch or given to a neighbor, even though I have great neighbors. Just too many questions and too many people that know your business.

I do that with UPS or have it delivered to my work. USPS will tell you they can do it, but they do exactly the opposite. It happened to me today in fact.
