I have spent a lot of time with different woods and spalted maple is by far my favorite.

Very Nice!
A few weeks ago, just as my daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids arrived for a visit my "killing tree" fell down. It's roots were rotted. It was more than three foot across at the base. I paid somebody to clean it up but I saved some pieces of wood from the stump that are spalted oak. I want to try and make something for at least one of my guns from it after it dries - probably my Prod. It won't be as nice as this if I make it but it will be a nice remembrance of my killing tree. (I named it my killing tree because I shot a couple dozen squirrels out of it's branches)

As scratched up as this Crosman 600 is I really debated on whether or not to get wood grips for it. I'm glad I did though. As nice as the wood is I don't even notice the fifty-yo paint job.
