Hawke Sidewinder power marks HFT?

The 6.5-20x42 Has a 20x 1/2 Mildot while the 4-16x50 has a 10x 1/2 Mildot. Both are second focal plane scopes and you are probably wanting holdover reference points so the 6.5-20x42 would be the one I would choose. It is the better scope between both overall including optical clarity IMHO.

☝ 20x 1/2 Mildot 6.5-20x42

👎 10x 1/2 Mildot 4-16x50

The only negative is the unevenness of the illumination.

Be aware the newest generation model may have a totally different reticle that may or may not be useful for HFT along with a noticeable price hike.

May find good deals on closeouts if you want to save some cash or find a seller for a used one who wants to upgrade who has the typical have to have the latest and greatest itch. They do have hassle free lifetime manufacturers warranty so buying this brand second hand would be ok for this brand. EDIT!!! NOPE NO WARRANTY BUYING A USED HAWKE AND WARRANTY APPLIES TO ORIGINAL OWNERS WHO REGISTERED THEIR SCOPES WITH PROOF OF RECEIPT!!! KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPS SAFE NEVER LOSE THEM!!!

Be careful with this statement, here are the last 2 sentences from the Hawke Warranty page;

"Applies to the original owner only. Please retain your purchase receipt or you can register your purchase here."

WHAT??? No more NEW HAWKES for ME then.

That would mean the USED HAWKES ain't worth beans then? Good luck trying to sell YOUR USED NO WARRANTY HAWKE SCOPES! BUYER IS SOL if it fails.

I would NOT recommend buying a USED HAWKE!

Thank You for clarifying!

I called Hawke today and got some answers to questions pertinent to me. The 20X does have a 16X mark. The 1/2 mil reticle will appear to have closer together holdovers graduations on the 4-16X than the 6.5-20 so I decided to order the 4-16 and it has a little larger objective than the other. I would have liked the 20X when shooting off the bench but the only reason for buying a scope is because my Sightron mil dots are spaced farther apart than I would like.

I didnt order rings I have a new set of 30mm BKL I'm medium height. from memory they are like .67 in height. I hope that is high enough. With that closeout at cameraland I figure there is no better time than to order.
