Hawke Sidewinder Battery Compartment Cap Won't Budge

Hi everybody,

Has anyone experienced something similar on their scope? I cannot screw open the battery compartment cap on my Sidewinder. What would be the best way to get it to open without causing any cosmetic or physical damage to the components? It's sitting on top of the rheostat adjustment turret and it is really awkward to try to do anything without damaging it.

Mine came off real easy. You can fight to the finish if you eat your spinach... BE HAWKE SIDEWINDER MAN!

Battery corrosion will often do that, albeit coin batteries are not susceptible to this phenomenon--but they do leak, too.

maybe wrap some channel locks with electrical tape.

Wrap a zip tie around the knurled edge strategically that tightens the zip tie as it loosten that cover and use the zip tie nub to help.

I used a pair of plastic pliers used to pull fuses.

A strip of bike interior will enable you to twist it with gusto and increased traction.

Warm it up SLIGHTLY with a heat gun.

I am happy to report that the cap successfully came off with no damage to any components. It was definitely a combined effort using several ideas suggested on this thread; and the last thing that did the trick was the heat gun.
