Hawke Optics Tracking

I have 3 Hawke scopes. Sidewinder 8x32, Sidewinder 6x24, and a Frontier 5x25. When I an shooting at 75 yards and move to 50 or 100, it takes 2 or three shots for the reticle to settle in. Is this a common thing with this brand of scopes? I really like these scopes but they would not be good for FT, or anywhere you would need to range with the turrets. Thanks

I have a Sidewinder 30 4-16x50 and it tracks pretty well when I use the turrets. I usually just holdover in the reticle though.

Try giving the turret a couple taps with your finger after each adjustment and see if that fixes things. If it does you may want to contact Hawke customer service. They're pretty top notch.

my sidewinders never tracked all that well,
i wasnt a clicker anyway so it wasnt a big deal.

but my arken would be highly capable of clicking,turrets are phenomenal

My frontier tracks fine. I do a lot of dialing at the dairy farm and it is always on.

What has worked for me on occasion, is to remove the turret, and clean out the old grease and re-lube.

I have gen2 sidewinders on both my AAFTA and EFT for a couple of years and have not had a problem.
However, I have seen where if you have a ring mounted at or near the saddle of the scope, particularly if the ring is over-tightened, this can produce several issues.

It was mounted on a Daystate RedWolf for a while then on an FX Impact.

@easyridemm Ok. I was thinking it may have been a springer. How old are your Hawks scopes? Were they always that way or did they start messing up after using them for a while? The way they advertise their warranty, I'd send them back.

Assuming it isn't a new problem that used to be ok, and that you purchased the scopes new, that is fairly normal to some degree for ANY budget scope. If the adjustments aren't horrifically bad, usually just going one click past the adjustment you need to make and then coming back the one click will solve or nearly solve this issue.

Mine are like that. They were my first scopes I got years ago, I've been so use to tapping the turrets that I tap all my turrets, hawke or not!

I've had multiple 30mm sidewinders and airmax scopes - my experience is the same as yours.

@cmatera What do you use for replacement lube? After doing so do you have the tracking issues that others are sharing?
