Hawke air max 30

jps2486 I went to that site and it is $50 more than the Hawke? I am new to airguns and these brands are all new to me I have been out of target shooting for a while and I have been trying to learn about some of these brands I had not heard of back when I was into target shooting the high end Tasco scopes were about the cheapest decent scopes out there along with Bauch & Lomb which is now Bushnell and Weaver was another with Burris and Leupold Swavorsky being at the top. I see a lot of new brands and I wonder how their quality stacks up against the ones I am familiar with?

The only issue I have with the airmax is that it is a second focal plane scope. they should offer a first focal plane scope for their customers wanting the top of the line stuff. Sadly, all of their scopes currently are second focal plane. Love the clarity of the glass on the airmax and reticle but that is my only gripe. :) besides that I'm going to probably buy the scope for just the reticle

Mike, I stand corrected on the price. The Viper compares with the Sidewinder 30 which does cost more. You do get a 6 inch sidewheel with the Viper if that's important to you. Between me and my friend, we have owned and used a lot of scopes for field target shooting in the sub $500 rrange, and after all is said and done, we return to the Viper. The next step up the ladder is the Sightron, but are you willing to pony up $1200? Bear in mind that not all scopes are suitable for airguns. Exclusive if its ability to be used on a Springer, it must have focus(parallax) adjustment and a useful reticle. That weeds out a lot of nice scopes in that price range. Forget about the first focal plane stuff. There aren't too many of those and their benefits are academic IMHO. I have a spreadsheet listing scopes that are suitable for airgun. If you want it, send me an email to
