Hawke 4x32 on my RWS 34

I had originally posted in the springer section earlier this month that I had mounted a Hawke Vantage 4x32 AO (Mil Dot) on my RWS 34P. Like some of the replies I got, I also have read that it is not rated for springers over 12 fpe. But I had also read that a lot of guys have used this scope on some pretty heavy springers and the scope has lasted for the long haul flawlessly. I just thought I'd give a little update on how the little Hawke is holding up so far. Pretty darn good!! First off...for the money it has some really clear glass and gathers light very well. I recently used it in low light/late evening conditions in the woods and it did extremely well. So far I have easily put it through some 400 firing cycles sitting atop the RWS34. No issues at all. It has held zero perfectly.....no change in point of impact at all. Perhaps it being a fixed power will add to reliability. Of course this could all change in one shot..LOL! But if so, I'm not out a ton of money as the scope didn't set me back an arm and a leg to begin with. It's seems really well built and equipped with some good glass......particularly for it's price point. I'm happy with it and singing it's praises right now. If it takes a crap on me and has me singing the blues tomorrow.......I will give ya an update on that as well. Below are some pics of the scope and some of the groups I just recently have achieved with it.

At least you know that if it does fail sooner or later that it wasn't recommended for your intended application.

At least its a fixed power scope with less parts to go wrong and typically fixed power scopes are clearer than

variable power scopes.

I am just wondering since you have an expensive BKL mount did you run out money to buy a better scope?

At least IMO the BKL mount is a good solid choice that shouldn't need replacing.

Yes. If it fails it will be all on me, not Hawke. And no, I didn't run out of money after buying the mounts. I have always been a firm believer in quality bases and rings for scopes. I have never really balked at spending at least as much on optics as the rifle it would be going on cost me. But all my experience has always been firearms. Not these air rifles. This 34 is my first venture into the world of high powered air rifles. I have stuck my foot in the water so to speak.....before I walk on in. Therefor I made the decision to not spend a pile of money on optics for this rifle.....right now.

So far I am enjoying this rifle so much that I will most likely in the future feel much better about sinking money into these air guns and optics for them. But the BLK mount....I did not want the scope to move!!! It was a no brainer and BTW....yes it is a quality mount. You are correct sir!

Thank you Coldair. All those groups were from the bench. Off hand shooting in hunting situations is something I am having to work on with this springer. I am practicing and getting much better though. I have been trying to figure out what pellet to try next. I have heard, like you say, that the Crossman Premiers are very good pellets. I think I will order some of those and the Pointed to try them out. Thank you for the advice.......I always appreciate it.
