Hawk 4x16 Compact, side focus question?

Hey guys 

I have a new Compact 4x16 SF. I'm kinda old school in that I have mostly AO front parallax scopes but have and do have SF parallax scopes too.

The SF scopes I have now except for this new Hawk return the same point of focus on the focus wheel. However this Hawk must be returned to zero starting point for repeatability for correct parallax correction.

I remember back in the day that this just a fact of life and the slack had to be taken up for correct adjustment after returning to zero for SF scopes.

Can someone with more experience confirm and or explain this?

This scope is wonderful except for having to return to zero yards then back up each time for consistent repeatability.

The FT guys say that is the way to get repeatable accuracy but no necessarily to 0 just the same direction each time

Did you properly lap your scope rings b4 mounting the scope?

I too have read that from FT guys.

Not for this scope but using same rings orientated the same direction as the scope that preceded it that too is SF and was lightly lapped. The hawk was only thumb tightened not to tight and not to lose.
