Hatsan Lightning

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD FURTHER CONTENT...

There was an F- review on Hatsan brand compressor based on a really bad customer experience but can no longer find it here on AGN doing a search HMMMM.....

If there is no possibility to get nor afford the MUCH better BULLETPROOF but more expensive Daystate Coltri compressor then find the variant of this compressor that has good support from the seller or importer...

Otherwise if you are forced to be on your own when you do your due dilligence research you may be better off (IF THIS IS THE SAME ONE) buying it from Aliexpress... I am not exactly sure which IF ANY of these it is... SO DON'T QUOTE ME ON IT...

They were few reports of defective units (NOT THESE but for the other cheaper Yong Heng types) where the seller just refunded the money in full to the buyers for defective items and told the buyer not to bother shipping them back… FYI…

If I am forced to buy a CHINESE made item it HAS TO BE AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE, otherwise you are better spending a little more to get the better quality item. Be advised that the markup for Chinese items can be extreme... IMHO!!!

I can only imagine how much the Alpha or Omega Supercharger or Turbo Charger REALLY cost???

THAT IS IF I WAS FORCED TO DO CHEAP…

If I was FORCED to buy CHINESE MADE then I want it as CHEAP as possible…

Same goes for Chinese scopes and airguns wonder how much markup they really have???

I found my favorite $399 Nova Freedom at Bud's Gunshop selling for $287 at their regular price a month ago.

It is now in the $320 price range and out of stock.

$29.76 Beeman P17 including Beeman red dot sight for another example… If you really think about it…

That Mark Nagel poor rating thread was large. He documented his experience with that Hatsan Lightning and his efforts to correct noted problems and finally to return that unit for refund. Even the vendor of the unit (it wasn't purchased directly from Hatsan as I recall) posted. Very poor experience for Mark Nagel. Others have posted that their Hatsan Lightning compressors are working exactly as designed with no problems. I like the features on the Hatsan compressor. But it does appear to be basically the same Chinese compressor with very similar foundation as the Air Venturi compressor (also liked by many people), all of those Aliexpress compressors, and even similar in apparent basic architecture to the Yong Heng and clones.

Seems that one can buy any of the Chinese based compressors and take their chances due to no long term use results to consider at this time or one can buy any number of versions of other compressors with longer history available but also higher cost. The Chinese compressors may be fine overall for many people with more time to evaluate. Or they may not be reliable long term after time has passed for results. Everyone must decide what is best for their specific needs and budget.

Hatsan Lightning has been excellent for me so far. Last time I used it two weeks ago, the fill whipmhad a leak at the discharge end. The leak was coming from the crimp from fitting to hose. No biggie, a quick photo and video of the leak sent to hatsan, and next day they emailed me telling me a new whip was in the mail.

Good to hear that Hatsan is taking care of you. Doesn't the Hatsan include moisture filtration? mr.grimm seems to suggest it does not. From which would one get better service, a vendor of Tuxing or Hatsan?

I bought my Lightning directly from Hatsan and was another owner, that for whatever reason, received incredibly poor customer service. Mine overheated when I attempted my first fill with a 66 ft3 SCBA. Looking back, it was showing signs of overheating during break in as well. Everything was set up correctly and both double and triple checked before powering the compressor on for the first time. I called phone number in Lightning manual and had to leave voice mail since I've never managed to actually talk with anyone in Hatsan service. I filled out and emailed them the customer service form the same day and received a confirmation email from Hatsan later that same day. Then nothing.

Imagine you've just spent over $1400 for something you can't use cause its not functioning correctly and you can not contact the manufacturer directly and they don't respond to your acknowledged complaint day after day after day. They did finally send me an email telling me to "carefully check the compressor over" which was of little to no practical help. I went thru at least two more long periods of time with no contact with Hatsan service where they just stopped communicating while my service complaint was active. Hatsan service never showed that they had the slightest clue or care as to what was going on causing the overheating with my compressor.

Finally, Hatsan service did issue an RMA on the compressor and at my request, issued a refund check for the compressor's purchase price. This ordeal took 90+ days to finally get resolved where it shouldn't have taken more than a month. The whole experience has so soured me on the PCP experience as of right now that I'm leaning toward selling off everything PCP I own and going back to active NRA High Power shooting where in 17 years of competition, I've never experienced such poor, unacceptable customer service. Needless to say,Hatsan service has cost their organization a customer in any case.
