Hatsan Hydra

3 pages deep I guess there aint much love.

Appears a damn sight better rig than that plastic avenger thing.

HatsanUSA has them at 399.00

Pretty nice wood stocks, very light in hand,Q trigger and sub 200$ barrels swaps.

Tempting at 40+fpe

there are so many new PCP's being released, I think a lot of the mid range priced ones are going to start to fall through the cracks when things like the Avenger get all the hype. A lot of the newer guns seem to be equal in feature set.

I'm only a couple years into air gunning, but this is what i've found generally:

Crosman, Hatsan, and the rebranded Chinese guns (Air Venturi, some Diana, etc.) all have about the same reliability. Most are good, but quite a few lemons make it to the consumer. The customer service you get is what is important. In my experience, Crosman support has been phenomenal, with HatsanUSA being ok, or poor (never terrible).

So if you know of one that you already like the feel of, and have good support from HatsanUSA, I would go for it.

I have found I always have buyer's remorse if I had settled on a gun that I wanted, but was then swayed by forum posts. Unless you find a lot of threads about poor reliability, you will most likely be fine.

Midway has them for $335.00 on sale now. However I purchased 2 different rifles and 3 different barrels. The extra barrels did not fitthe rifles. I had a .22 that they sent 2 different .25 barrels that the guide in front of the pin was too large to fit hole in rifle. I sent them back and ordered in .25 and an extra .22 barrel -same fit issues. They told me they checked their stock and I must have gotten 2 bad ones. I returned them and got my money back. I thought the lever action was gritty but it did shoot nice. Light rifle. Just my opinion and experience. Maybe I did get 2 bad ones- who knows.
