Hatsan Gladius power adjuster

Hi,

Recently I bought Hatsan Gladius Long airgun. As I like to know as much details about my stuff as I can, I've got a question related with power adjuster.

My Hatsan Gladius has 6-levels power adjuster. How this adjuster extacly works? In my imagination, there is something that regulates how far hammer can go to hit the valve pin. But is there anyone that can explain it correctly or bring some schematics?

Thank you for your reply ;)

Uh, it's something new to me... Even seller at my local authorized Hatsan shop said the adjuster regulates hammer spring tension, but can't explain how it extacly works...
Yes, shrinking the transfer port seems more logical way to me, as it's very hard to get repeatable results to precise regulate hammer spring with some wheel...

I've watched some movies at youtube where the guy disassembled Hatsan Gladius, but it was UK version. Too bad UK version is crippled badly due to local law, and there's no power adjuster at all. UK version has also anti-tamper installed to prevent adjusting the hammer spring to get more than 16 joules pellet energy.

In polish version, only valve pin is thicker to limit power to 17 joules, but when you replace pin to FAC version and register the airgun at nearby police station, you're fine :)

Thanks for your reply :)

Well for the sake of your stocking dealer, it does have both.

The hammer spring may be adjusted changing power levels slightly.

The 6 position knob on the side would be as described, basically either holes of various sizes or just a bolt ( whatever) that blocks off the transfer port when screwed further in.

Are you the only one on your block with one?

Here's what the power wheel groove looks like. When you have it on level 6, the widest part of the groove will be aligned with the transfer ports for maximum airflow, and when you have it at level 1, the groove will be at its most narrow point. I have my Gladius tuned to shoot up to 920 fps with JSB 18.1 at power 6, but I generally use power level 5 which will give 850 fps. I do have a Lane regulator installed.
