Hatsan air rifles

I have purchased several refurbs direct from Hatsan. It can be a crap shoot... If you are handy and don't mind going over it and ensuring everything is tight before you start, you should be fine. I have had some that had nothing wrong and others I had to tighten half the screws on. But, for the money, you can get a pretty good deal with a refurb. My only words of caution with buying a refurb, the warranty is only 90 days and they don't do refunds. So, be sure of what you want before you buy it and shoot it a lot within the 90 warranty period to disclose any hidden problems before the warranty is up. If you do have a problem, fill out the CS Form on their website and they do a good job of taking care of you. I have had to send back refurbs and have also had them send me parts when needed. They have always paid for shipping when I had to return one for warranty service/repair.

While I have no personal experience buying referb rifles from Hatsan / Hatsan-USA,
I personally own a Hatsan .22 cal Gladius, and it's one of the most accurate/consistent rifles I have.
[I'm comparing it to rifles I've owned and still own costing upwards of 2-3 x the price]

People sometimes mention a crap-shoot / gamble when it comes to referbs..
Just remember, this can also be said for some of the rifles in brand-new-condition!

😊👍

Won’t get any more money from me. I bought a Dominator in .22 from factory store, about one can of pellets in, it started to occasionally grind when it was cocked. It was remarkably accurate, but the grinding got worse, and more often. After doing actions that they recommended, they requested it back at my expense. This was a new, not refurb rifle. It came back real quick, in the exact same package it was sent in. I asked what was found wrong, they said a tech fired it a few times and pronounced it fine. No inspection or disassembly, and of course, it still grinds. I’ll shoot it until it fails and then it goes to trash. I will take a hatsan given to me, but I won’t buy one no matter how good it is claimed to be, and I won’t send it back for “service”. YMMV.

Same gun here, same results. Accurate and functions perfectly. Would buy another without reservation.

I bought an at44qe long in .22, about 5 years ago from the refurb department. It’s the only air rifle I own. It shoots great! I’ve loaned it out to friends many times. A couple have since purchased their own. I have had zero issues with it. Granted I am not out shooting all the time like most of the gents on here, but I have put well over 2000 rounds through it with no issues.

I was asking $400 on another site.. I have lots done to it.. ported .70 bore, new hammer and pellet probe, .219 hammer spring , polished everything inside receiver, valve job, new nylon poppet, ext valve spring tension retainer. Polished valve body. ect.

I know you can buy them now for $499 to 599, which sucks, cause I paid 750 from P.A. last Mar 2, 2019,, but I can bargain on the price..

Max fps is 952 at 90 FPE .

Shoots 21 shots 200 bar fill, avg 927 - 83 FPE .

14 shots for hunting 170 bar, avg 942 - 87 FPE.

Very reliable, a little heavy still,, shoots 1" holes at 50 yds, 2 in at 100 yds

Save your money and buy a better airgun, I bought 2 Flash and a Vectus last year and all 3 leak down to 0 in a short time. Quality control must be non-existant. It's a shame because they are accurate, but if they don't hold air, they're worthless. Maybe I'm just unlucky. I sent the first one back and it was replaced and it leaked too. What makes it worse it is almost impossible to open the air cylinder without damage.

My Hatsan experience, My first was a New, 125TH s Vortex QE (ThumbHole, Synthetic, Quiet Energy) .22. Added a UTG scope, I was really happy with its hard-hitting, long shot accuracy, It was like... once it got dialed in on prairie dogs, ya couldn't miss. Even on long shots where I raised the barrel so high the prairie dog was barely inside the scopes view, compensate for windage, thinking to self.. there ain't no way I'm gonna hit it... send the pellet and whump (you know the sound) Hit that SOB !! it was like it couldn't miss. Time after time it nailed critters on long shots. I live in western Colorado, surrounded by desert plains, prairies. Long shots are, well, normal. I really liked my Hatsan 125th s Vortex Qe .22. A few thousand pellets later, I cocked it, went to close the barrel and it wouldn't close! The spring-loaded lock pin that keeps the barrel closed, developed a flat spot and wouldn't push in as the barrel closes (then it springs out, keeping the barrel closed). It also wallowed out the hole that contains the locking pin & spring. I don't know of a way to repair that other than drill it larger and fabricate a larger pin. Its pretty much a scrap bin pellet gun now. But I'll order a new pin.. hoping I can salvage it. I need parts break down, a diagram for my model. Good luck finding that. Model type documentation is nonexistent. I'm sure they have it, it's just not readily available to the public. It's not a point and click process to order parts, you have to contact support (email them) wait for them to get back with you, describe the part without a parts diagram. (I think I found a generalized diagram, even had part numbers, but no description). order the part, arrange payment. Point and click, pay for item, get shipment, You know, common eCommerce type transaction, Not with Hatsan! Parts ordering from Hatsan is third worldish. They really need to up their game regarding product support. After ordering the part, I waited and waited, nothing. So I contact customer support again (you know, email and wait for a reply email) Turns out my part request fell into the cracks of Hatsans third-world parts cave. The gun sat the winter waiting for a part. when it finally arrived, it looked like it had been salvaged from a well-used doner gun. It sure wasn't new.

With happy thoughts of popping prairie dogs in an hour or two, I began the installation of the pin. Had it not been for the gas ram losing all its gas, I'm certain I would have had a great day. So, back to ---> contact support, (you know, submit a request for service, wait for reply email, reply to the reply) .....throw rocks at prairie dogs from cave, hummmm, thinking . . . me make spear and Spear prairie dogs!... Uggg ... swing from vine... give Tarzan yodle... ahhhhyodlllle... yodlllle... yodlllle screw make spear! Me ordered an Hatsan AT44S10 LONG QE .22 refurb, a New Tact Air 3 stage pump, another UTG 3 x 9 x 40 multi-colored lited cross hairs scope and rings. Spear THIS prairie dogs! It soon arrived... I was a happy pellet pushing junkie... getting familiar with its new curves as I mount the scope, my first PCP. Look out Prarie dogs! Im sure I was drooling as I finished tightening the scope mounts, thumbing through the user's guide, educating my self on how to fill her up. Assemble the 3 stage pump and leak test it, tighten connections, test repeat until it held pressure. Looking how to fill air cylinder, Hey, Its already at full pressure! NeatO, ready to go educate some prairie dogs... but I cant find the fill probe. There wasn't a fill probe in the box. WTF? Hatsan didn't ship one! throw more rocks... ebayed a fill probe.... shot the tank of air zeroing the scope. Swinging from vines and yodelllleing I remembering I put a spear under rock by Hatsan cave! I swing over, reach under rock and pull out Diana spear Mod. 36 .22 springer that's sent countless thousands of pellets on their way before I bought it and put a few thousand rounds through her before treating the ole girl to a good chamber hone, trigger deburr & polish, new spring, seals and a proper greasing and fed a couple more tins of Crossman premier hollow-point .22's to her, Pulled the new scope off the Hatsan 125th Vortex s Qe that has the same quality of build as the cheap Chinees junk that's flooded the US retail market for the past 30 + years because our (supposedly) elected representatives care more about a buck than they do the preservation of the greatest country that's ever been on earth and its citizens. Walmarts shelves are filled with nothing but junk from China! I remember when Walmart boasted, American products fill our shelves... Oops, kinda got off track there. . .

Put the scope on the Diana and revisited its German quality. Its break barrel action has been cycled 10's of thousands of times with flawless performance. I have no doubt she will continue for many thousands more.

Reading Hatsans come to existence story, I was left with the impression the company produced quality items. As I dove into the huge world of PCP, educating hundreds of prairie dogs with my Hatsan AT44S10 LONG QE, it wasn't long before I wanted to give it a tune to increase the shot count and flatten the velocity curve.

This is getting long-winded so ill cut through the chase. The air cylinder was contaminated with brass shavings from production (probably reason it was returned) the resealed the valve and filled with air. It held pressure so they sold it. One day, the cylinder dumped, I explored why... shavings! around the trigger assy is a spur shaped rod-like a Y but rounded, U shaped instead of V where it meets the leg. It broke a leg off, cant shoot the rifle without it, its part of the cocking mechanism, Its been ordered since last fall... Hatsan, Two up, Two broke down. Well, I'm stubborn so I ordered a side lever Vortex .22, feels nice, Hits HARD but I've yet to find its "sweet" pellet. Absolutely no consistency in shot groups. I've tightened all its nuts and bolts, check seals, check. far as I'm concerned its a boat anchor! I'm done with Hatsan! thought I would find something of quality and keep it under 600.00 (that's what brought me here) But I can see that ain't gonna happen after watching--> AirArmsHuntingSA Matt Dubber explain How Pellets and Slugs are Stabilized (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur6iIcVhHmM) Ya ruint me Mat!! Nothing but an FX Impact MK11 .22 at over 2000.00 is going to make me happy. Gotta have the slug barrel too! I hate ya Matt!

Do yourselves a favor and DONT WATCH THE VIDEO! (If ya do, wear your learning hat and allow a couple of hours) It's long and the most educational information EVER compiled and presented on pellets. Oh ya, Forget anything in yur head regarding a budget. Hatsan... I've got a few for sale, as is, no returns . one is like new but cant hit s&^%, other two are for parts only.they can be used for all kinds of stuff if you have a creative mind....

I personally have not had a Hatsan, the more I read the more I would not want one due to quality control and weight.

However if I were to want one, and professional mental health providers were not available due to sheltering place, I would opt for a refurb, it has already maybe been fixed.

Repressive regimes seem to stifle creativeness and work ethic as can be seen in Chinese and Turkish quality control.
