Has anyone tried the Sightron lll Field target scope

I had one before the FT model came, re parallaxed it work at 10y, max distance ended up around 75y. I sold that a year later. When Hector worked with Sightron to release a factory FT model, basically, it had a diff reticle, was already adjusted to focus at 9 yards - 55 at least (went further), and there were additional factory marking on the scope mag wheel to accommodated US Hunter FT requirements (12x at the time). I bought one of the first run, sold it a year later....

So, this is NOT a dig, just something to think about... While its clearest and sharpest focusing scope I've had, its also the most temp sensitive . Just wasn't willing to deal with 30y matching up at 9am but reading 27y at noon, that's over dot when at high mag on a mid power .177 set up for FT. I had the same issue with both.... I found it/them to be very susceptible to temp induced changes.

Never had a Nikko, maybe the temp thing follows all high mag scopes. My current scopes don't seem to have anywhere near as dramatic a temp shift, but then again they max at 25x and that seems to be enough for everything I do.

So, great scope, temp shift turned me off.

Also kinda like cars, a $1400 scope will be worth $900 as soon as it ships..

I bought one this spring and have had good luck with it! It range finds very well for me and I have not experienced the change with temperature as I keep it in a closed box out of the sun when not being shot but I have heard others say what JDC said about temp. change. It has very good glass and a choice of three reticles, It is pretty heavy so keep that in mind.

Can't say anything about the Nikko as I never had one but it is very popular in Europe for sure! I was a little apprehensive about the price but I got over that!

Hope this helps you out some J.L.

I have some buyers regret with my FT model Sightron. It's not a bad scope but I wish I would have bought a regular model SIII 10-50x. I spent more money to get a sidewheel that was too small as the gaps at longer ranges are way too tight (therefore I had a 6" wheel made which made little difference). Though I can focus to 8 yards I wish they would have taken there time to make it focus at precisely 10 yards as mine will only focus to 55-56 yards. Like said above it is really temp sensitive so depending on the temperature I might not be able to focus to 55. Though I have not used a Leupold Competition model I wish I would have bought instead and had a sidewheel made (which I did anyway) and save a few $$.
