Has anyone built a custom "high end" Mrod from scratch?

Both .22 and .25 have light weight hammer, HUMA reg, Marmott Barrels, custom Cherry stock (made by me). The .25 has a Twin Spring System on it. Both were tuned by Motorhead. I took 22nd place three years ago in the 25 meters at EBR out of 75 shooters. This was my first competition ever. A better shooter may have done even better with the rifle. Best 5 shot group at 50 yards is .19 in with the .22. I have taken several P-dogs past 90 yards with the .25. I believe if you have a balanced shot string and a good barrel the rifle will shoot on par to the high end rifles.

Would I do this build today Yes/No. If you want to learn the ins and outs by upgrading this rifle the answer is yes. I received quite an education tearing these things apart and getting them to shoot well. That said, I have about $900 into each of these rifles and for the same money there are a lot of nice rifles out there that shoot great out of the box and are probably alot lighter in weight.

That said, these rifles are dear to me and I would probalby never sell the .22.

rSome people like to tweak, there would be no Hot Rods if they didn't,bless them that do because there would be no after market parts dealers if they did not want to customize ...something,anything.So what if you can buy something refined ,doesn't make it mine and mine is for me and my goal is to set "it" apart,to make it better.....and when it is ours it becomes more of a pet and less of a commodity....

I have one of the best, nothing to be done,I love it...butt nothing to be done....I get more pleasure out of creating a rifle that can come close to it,like real close .......I did it...sometimes I think I got real lucky doing it....could Never have done it without those special parts that those special parts guys that make us tweakers..tweak.....hail the special parts guys, and Than you.

Thanks for the input.

I love to modify things and am very mechanically inclined so that isn't a problem. I wasn't thinking of starting with a Marauder and replacimg parts, I'm thinking of machining my own aluminum or titanium air reservoir. Buying & machining a barrel to fit. Maybe making a hunter/FT hybrid stock. Build my own FFH. Use the Crosman valve & trigger group. Something along these lines. I know it would be expensive.

Just something I've considered, just to have a one-of-a-kind air rifle.

Have had one for a few years now ... Built from parts of other guns, some new, some custom some no longer available.

Gen 1 receiver, JSAR X-long LW air tube, WAR valve w/cobra, Milo74 regulator, LW hammer w/ SSG, MM TJ's .22 barrel, Custom CF shroud and that NLA STOCK

Recently got a HuMa tube end pressure gauge/fill and a custom LDC too.

along with a bunch of other stuff going on inside as well. a ONE OF A KIND to be sure being I custom built it.

It's as accurate shoots and operates just as well as my Daystates, Raw, Air arms & BSA's .... but alas it's only a lowly Marauder LOL
