Happy with my Feinwerkbau Collection

It all started when my Dad bought a new Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #44554 (1981/82) with a blue ribbon scope in 1982, when he passed in 2017 my mother passed his air rifle on to me. Having two sons I wanted to balance things out so I found another Beeman SanRafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #15246 (1977/78), this one came with the JNC stamp. In November 2022 I was finally able to add the Feinwerkbau Model Sport #12400504 and rounded out the family collection in January 2023 by adding a hard to find Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 127 Sport #30262 (1979/80), all are shooters. The 124 have new ARH seals and springs, I like the Sport just the way it is and I plan on installing new seals and spring from ARH in the 127 this spring.

Very nice collection!! Especially the JNC and the 127. Rare birds!

Balancing things out is a great way to encourage camaraderie and a little friendly competition among family members. The better shooters in the family will encourage others to do better when the playing field is level and everyone has the same equipment.

I wanted my wife to join my airgun fun on camping trips so I bought her an HW30. I'd never handled one before and after taking two shots with it I said "I gotta get me one of these!" and bought myself an R7. I put identical scopes on each and realized I had just created the perfect teaching tools. They're "apples to apples". If I can hit a target my wife wants to hit it too. I can tell her how many MOA high, left or right I aimed and she can see and do the same. So much more fun that way.

How do you like the newest FWB Sport? There are many complaints that out of the box the spring and piston tolerances were subpar but the external craftsmanship is great. Have you done any tuning to it?

Marty,

No tuning yet on the new FWB Sport, at some point I may give it a tune but I have no complaints with this one as it may have already been tuned.

The 124 was the rifle that ingrained into me the love and respect for high end springers I still carry today. I was infatuated with shooting be it BB gun, wrist rocket, pellet gun, or bow, as a pre-teen. But in 1982 I was introduced to the FWB 124 and something changed. It was a recognition of quality and a desire to own such things. I have a nice little stable of air rifles today and oddly enough I still don’t have a 124 of my own but I do have a very nice, early, 127 And love it. Always looking though…

Thank you everyone, for the compliments and comments. Like some have mentioned the FWB my father bought in 1982 started a passion that has never faded, and lucky for me my wife knew what she was getting when we started dating (Fleet Marine Corpsman, Firefighter (Retired Chief), EMT and an outdoor sportsman) she tells me her life would be boring without me around.

What surprised me was one day when I came home she asked if I knew how many air rifles I owned, I said one and she responded “I counted 55” my response was No I own 1 the boys own 1 each the rest are backups owned by the 4 of us. She smiled and said “well right” and at that moment she claimed my early Santa Rosa Beeman R7 .177 as her own and told me I needed to find her a backup or two, so I guess I get to keep looking until she decides I have found her backup.

She also encourages me to start a repair business because I like rebuilding and tuning the majority of what we own. Last year I decided to start out locally and the people I have serviced their old springers, pumpers and Co2 rifles have sent referrals to me which keep me busy but not so busy I don’t have time to shoot.
