Happy Pulsar Birthday to me

Went to AOA this afternoon and took the plunge on a Pulsar.

Cleaned the barrel and did some initial testing before I lost the light.

JSB 25.39 low 760 med 860 high 920

H&N 21.14 high 960

JSB 18.13 low 895 med 1000 high 1030

It didn't seem to like the JSB 18's too much at any power setting but I'm still testing.

Lucky you!!

I'd be interested to see shot string results, like ES and SD.

As it's becoming clear to me that BCs are not only dependent on speed, but by a guns characteristics, I'm hoping you have a way to check the BC.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Pulsar last year because im a tech junkie, but I decided on the Crown. I may get an electronic gun next if the numbers work.

Yeah, Carl; even though an electronic platform is much less prone to seasoning due to the elimination of most of the internal mechanical components, I will run another shot string if I start to notice POI issues. I have noticed such issues with my mechanical guns; hopefully that dynamic will not be as much in play with the Pulsar.

Hopefully, I can get to the range tomorrow to zero and range my brand-new Pulsar HP .25! I used to have a standard Pulsar .25 back in the day when I was a newbie, but I never heard of Chronys and Chairgun back then. My ranging was strictly trial and error; Mr. Kentucky Windage! I must say, these days I must have a pretty good rig. My Chrony numbers input into Chairgun have been spot-on in the field :).

Below is my revised shot string after I lopped-off the first four shots, which were statistical outliers (inordinately high fps). I did clean the barrel and shoot a mag through it before the shot string. By shooting from 241 bar instead of max pressure of 250 bar, I reduce SD from 4.96 to 2.78.

I replied to this once but it seems to have disappeared.

Anyway... CONGRATS! Hawkeye!

I have found that the superb electronic trigger, very consistent different power levels, and effortless "cocking" mechanism that Daystate has produced are "spoilers" and a bit addictive.

Where do you go next, after you have a Red Wolf and a Pulsar? These are some special airguns, indeed.

I would like a bullpup to go along with my Red Wolf and have been thinking the lightweight Wildcat would be great. But then again, already having the electronic Red Wolf... I might just have to go Pulsar.

I am very much enjoying the Red Wolf .22HP with 15.89 and 18.13, shooting on LOW power. Incredible shot count on LOW.

I might be letting the cat out of the bag but...AOA's owner Robert took me in the back room and showed me what I think is a game changer. A Bantam Sniper in full bull-pup configuration. The barrel is about 3 inches shorter, fully regulated and externally adjustable. Move over Wildcat there's a new player in town, and with a 5 year warranty to boot.

Just a week ago or so, Robert (at AoA) told me that he thinks the Bantam Sniper is so good, that it's pretty much THE go-to air rifle these days. Yes, he was that impressed with the Bantam Sniper!

Yes, DHart; once you go electronic, you never go mechanic. (That kinda rhymes.) As I've posted here, I recently traded in my WC .25 for a Pulsar HP .25. I used to have a standard Pulsar back in the day and it was not an issue carrying her around. Actually, the Pulsar is less than two pounds heavier than the WC.

AH... you don't miss having the WC, now that you have the Pulsar?

DHart, I miss every gun I've ever sold. I always do a lot of research before I buy a gun. My desires keep changing, though. (I like to think I'm evolving ;-).) I will miss the compactness and lightness of the WC. I've never had a more accurate rifle, I can tell you that. The negative space in the stock was great for snatchin' her out of my scabbard when I spotted a bunny, and for carrying around. I haven't yet had my new Pulsar out in the field. I just ran my first shot string and generated a Chairgun range card. I'm planning on getting some range time in later today. My old Pulsar had a shorter barrel and no after-market suppressor. My new Pulsar HP is a beast with the DonnyFL Emperor! We'll see how it goes. I've humped longer and heavier out there, though. My Pulsar is 10 pounds, all in, and 45" long w/ the Emperor. My RAW .357 was 13 pounds and 49" w/ no after-market suppressor. Plus, I needed a heavy aluminum frame backpack/scabbard to carry it, and I also carried a pony bottle. I was humpin' over 30 pounds out there! I'm totin' around only 15 now. Cripes, who needs a gym membership when you're an airgunner; am I right, folks?!

Congrats on the new Pulsar, hawkeye69. I'll bet it's a hoot. Anxious to hear your progress reports as you continue testing through the break-in.

Curious about Robert's (AoA's) hyping of the Brocock Bantam Sniper bull-pup. Admittedly, Daystate and Brocock have stepped up their game a lot, and I too am enthused about their improvements and innovations. But, did Robert actually demonstrate to you what makes the Bantam Sniper a "game changer"? If it's really better than a Wildcat, I'd like to try one.

But, through several phone conversations with AoA over the past months, I detect from AoA some animosity toward FX Airguns because they opened their own service and warranty and repair center (FX-USA), thereby taking business away from AoA. Since then I've seen a concerted "de-emphasis" of FX products, and an obvious shift of promotion toward Daystate and Brocock at AoA. As a matter of fact, AoA won't even sell me repair parts for my FX guns. Twice they've told me to call FX-USA. I attempted to order a small part for my FX Boss from AoA. AoA offered to replace that part if I shipped the gun to them and hired them (for $200) to completely overhaul the entire gun. I told the sales rep that the gun didn't need an overhaul and that I was fully capable on my own of replacing the part that I wanted. At that point AoA's sales rep flatly told me that they were not going to simply sell me the small part that I wanted and to call FX-USA.

The point of all this is NOT to stir the pot. My point is that if the Brocock Bantam Sniper really is the new "go to" gun, and that it's better than an FX Wildcat, I want to see the the proof. But I don't want to see people hurt by all the hype, when the hype is merely rooted in a petty business squabble between FX Airguns and AoA. Boys will be boys. AoA is bound to promote the guns that best butter their bread. I get that. But I'm not falling for mere hype.

Robert, please show us what makes the Brocock Bantam Sniper the new "go to" gun. And what makes it better than an FX Wildcat. I can be persuaded. But first, show me the proof.

Addendum: I took the AoA sales rep's advice and called FX-USA and ordered the little part that I needed. What would have cost me $200 plus two-way shipping (another hundred) from AoA, I got from FX-USA for the grand total of SQUAT. And I got it quick too! Thanks Newman and FX-USA.

Hello-

I may be showing my age- there are no plastic firearms in my collection- not a single one in air, rimfire, centerfire, pistols, or revolvers. This is my personal choice and is not meant to disrespect those who love their plastic. I am really looking forward to purchasing the Brocock Bantam MK2 with a wooden stock. Should anyone get a heads up on delivery of same to the US, please post!

Kind regards,
