Hand pumps

If you already thinking of forking over $280 for a hill pump. Why not go for a yong heng for the same price and will fill your gun in under 4 mins. My first handpump was the Benjamin pump for $179. Then I bought a hill mk3 for $280. Then a hill mk4 for $280. This was before I knew about the yong heng. Saw people having good results with the yong heng so I purchase one. Oh man, how sweet to have your own infinite air supply without sweating like a pig trying to pump with these hand pump. I will never go back to hand pump. NEVER!!!!!!.

On the FX pumps, the moisture trap is on the output side where it belongs using a chamber filled with glass beads. You know it works when you see the condensation blast when you release the air pressure. If I was buying a new hand pump today, I would spend the $200 on an FX 4-stage pump, because even a child or frail woman could pump up a PCP rifle. With the 3-stage pump I have to throw my full weight on it to get to 250 BAR. The FX pump allows you to switch over to 3-stage when the pressure is low for faster filling, then switch over to 4-stage to bring up to full pressure. Sort of wish I had bought the 4-stage pump in the beginning, but if I get a second pump, it will be the FX 4-stage pump.

My son’s 2nd Hill MK4 takes 2X the strokes to fill his gun that my Chinese Pump with anfifreeze takes to fill it. His 1st was returned. I gave him my Chinese pump and bought a replacement for $27. If you disassemble, clean, and lube the Chinese pump they work great! I would venture to say that there is a pretty good chance that Some Hill parts come from China also

I have this one:

Extremely robust and so easy to pump.

The build quality is extremely high on this one.

I was basically refunded because the adapter would not fit my AGs' fill probes; it being too deep by approx. 2mm.

The solution was to install an extra O-ring on top of the existing one.

A few days after I got it, there was a sale on PCP pumps for less than $25 shipped---details provided by GTA Bargain Gate.

I bought one as well, no brainer, as back up.

Comparing the two, the GX is miles ahead in construction and aesthetics, of course.

Both come with rebuild kits, btw.

Just clean and re-oil it after 500 pumps to make it last forever, lol!

Silicon grease (Ace Hardware auto section has them) and silicon oil 30weight (can be purchased from RC hobby stores for $6) are all that you need for maintenance/lubrication.

Had the 1sy Hill nightmare pump (yellow). FX original then the 1st Blue one. Last week purchased the above mention $20.00 on sale pump. Good quality, all fitting hold air after "just" snuggin up with supplied tool, rebuild parts galore included. Have a 4+ year old Vevor hand pump (back before the "G6" av pump) purchased from flying dragon for $100. Outstanding QC. Never any issue and lent out to multiple people over the years as well. The Vevor is the easiest and fastest (volume) to use when compaire to a Hill or FX (and the benjamin pump) buy a long shot.

These hand pumps are not complicated and all brands (well before our new & improved shipping costs) should be under $100.

Just bought a China pump two weeks ago when on sale to have as a backup if my YH compressor goes down. My last hand pump was a Benjamin, would never buy one again as tubes rusted internally due to moisture that condenses inside and pitted the tubes beyond repair. Swore that if I ever bought another hand pump I'd get one with stainless tubing and I did.

Thats cause that hill pump doesn't come with the filter. The filter itself is $100. Not sure what the price for the hillpump with filter now. Cause I bought mine many years ago. And back then it was $279.99. Imo its not worth it. Handpump are a thing of the past. Compressor is the new future. Not sure why people still into handpump when you can get a decent good Compressor for under $250. I guess they haven't try out what a Compressor can do. Once you go black, you'll never go back. Lol

Just check on PA and AD. It is still $280 with the filter. Wow. Even after many years they never lower the price. What a shame how these companies are all about money. In my experience, as years past item should drop in price. But naw, they wanna keep same price for 10+ years lol. Id get a yong heng for cheaper and can fill my guns in 4 minutes and that's from empty. Top off is only like 2 mins.

If you want low cost instead of a 25O yong heng compressor, then keep it simple:

- cheapo Chinese handpump for 30 usd is fine.

- never get carried away and let it get warm. Stop at lukewarm and let it cool off. I once let mine run warm and had to rebuild it. Not a disaster but made me waste a couple hours. Letting it cool off is less time consuming.

- put some silicone grease on it once in awhile.

- get a second one for back up.

- get a yong heng when the addiction (tuning, regs, lots of fills from 0 pressure) really kicks in. I now have 4 hand pumps plus 2 yong Hengs chugging along. The next step will probably be an industrial compressor unit filling up half the neighborhood.
